At the EcoMotion self-driving conference held (in cyberspace) from Israel this week, Amnon Shashua, founder and CEO of MobilEye, now a unit of Intel INTC , declared their intention to offer robotaxi service, with no safety drivers, in early 2022. They will begin in their headquarters town of Jerusalem, then move to Tel Aviv, then France, Korea and China.
He makes this statement while many other companies, particularly car OEMs, are scaling back their plans and timelines on full robocar service. Were recently seen layoffs at several companies, including some of the biggest start-ups like Zoox and Cruise. Zoox also confirmed last week it is shopping around for a potential buyer.

I want my flying self driven taxi and I want it now.
Guess that will eliminate tipping.
Bookmarked.
Notice she is wearing a mask inside the car and yet she is the only passenger. And...she is going to pick up more masks!
What a bunch of lemmings we have in this country.
Starting in Jerusalem?
I could imagine explosives left by “passengers” set to detonate after he is safely out of range.
Just so everyone knows...Intel doesn’t believe in safety certified real-time operating systems for this safety critical application.
They insist on using LINUX - while all others are planning on a certified RTOS.
To most in any industry that does safety software, if you say “safety and Linux” in the same sentence you’ll get laughed out of the room.
Just fyi... :)
