Yesterday, at the supermarket, I needed something from half-way down an aisle. There was only one other woman shopper in the aisle, so I parked my cart at the end of the aisle and walked down to get the product. She POUNCED, pointed to the arrow not the floor and, in her perfect scolding busybody manner, sternly said "You are going the wrong way."

I was dumbfounded. I glared at her and said "Yes, I am." She gave me a death-stare from above her mask. A minute later I heard some store employee saying "Sir! Sir? Sir!" and I ignored it. I figured the snitch turned me into the store Gestapo.

At the store entrance, they have stationed young employees to make sure that not too many people get into the store and that everybody gets a spritz of some sanitizer on their hands before entering. The young woman spritzing yesterday was very nice and said "Have a nice shopping day."

The one-way aisles and arrows on the floors have to be the most stupid things I've ever seen.

We live on a culdesac dead end street with both a flat road and up a steep hill. You can only get on our street via a street that ends in several short dead ends.

There is minimal road traffic and a lot of walkers. Most do not wear masks due to the altitude and increases in altitude once you get off the main road. Most are friendly and say high or some pleasant greeting.

A couple of weeks ago a neighbor and his best friend for decades were walking on the correct side of our street and where the road is about 35’ wide. These guys are about 6’5” and still in great shape after VN, playing football at a major college and in their 70’s.

A Karen started yelling at them to get their masks on. They yelled back,”Shut up and get out of here before we kick your ass!”

Karen did a U turn and went back away from our friends.

Or how about the strange woman who had nothing better to do than to run up and down the line at JoAnn’s talking in people’s faces and trying to butt in line? Or the guy at Walmart who did the same thing?

There’s more than one kind of Covid busybody.

Only on the Conservative side. Too many conservatives shaming and bullying people wearing masks. I’m not stopping wearing mine during flu season for any busybody, conservative or liberal. Some of us wear them certain times of year. Some of us have asthma, like me. Some are going through chemo. Some have autoimmune diseases. There are a lot of reasons why people wear them and it’s not all about the CDC and Covid. When you bully and harass people with a mask on you don’t know why they have them on. If anybody, conservative or liberal, approaches me about my mask they will probably get a fist in the face.

Not yet, but have my reply, courtesy of a Little Johnny joke at the ready.

Busybody: Why aren’t you blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Me: You know, My grandpa lived to be 98.

Busybody: Did your grandpa live during this pandemic?

Me: No, he got to that age by minding his own damm business!

Nope. None whatsoever. I live in a Texas town not named Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston.

I live in one of the reasonable states. Had dinner at a restaurant the other night and watched what had to have been an agonizing choice for a woman at another table. I overheard her husband say “take that stupid thing off- what are you going to do- eat with it on?” She could either be a “correct” or let her husband be right...

Yesterday, I was complaining that Seattle had cancelled the whole Seafair thing, including the 4th of July fireworks display. One of my acquaintances from high school wrote me back:

I think the (as of this afternoon) 93,431 people who died in the USA from COVID-19 (in the last two months) are going to be OK with it. I think their families will be too busy mourning their loss to care.

Yeah...I think he was trying to shame me. He is a major-league liberal and suffers from severe TDS.

Not only that, I believe his numbers are WAY off. Not feeling like getting into an argument with him.

I have found the opposite in most of my grocery stores. People generally obeying the arrows, but not 100% of the folks 100% of the time(I violate them myself on occasion), and no one getting in a tizzy over it.

The busy bodies have herd mentality and cannot use reason enough to see that a rational look at a context is superior to a universal one-size-fits-all rule every time. They are being indoctrinated to stop reasoning and just follow rules.

I was in Walgreens yesterday, standing on one of the 6 foot markers in the checkout lines.

Guy in front of me goes to the check-out counter.
I move up six feet.

Guy comes back into line and I don’t see him so I’m caught in the middle...it happens.

Lady behind me started yelling at me.

I asked my wife not to yell at me in public.

As I have said before on other threads I opt for a Shemagh wrapped SAS style or Bedouin style. If I need it to get in it qualifies. I look like a ISIS commercial.

I never have got any backtalk from a Karen yet as I wear a body cam to record any unpleasant interactions. It seems to keep them away. I have gotten dirty looks though.

I have run into some “You need to social distance” nazis as I hike around the neighborhood.

The reply is usually “As-salamu alaikum. Chelb”

One local store that I use has done away with the one way aisles. In another, just today, an employee bitched at me for going the wrong way. It was impossible to use that aisle anyway since she had the aisle blocked with a pile of cartons and her fat ass.

You can probably guess which one was Walmart.

".... The one-way aisles and arrows on the floors have to be the most stupid things I've ever seen...."

At least down here in rural Florida, they're not stupid enough to think one way aisles in the grocery store are going to confuse the virus.

But they do limit the number of people in the store at one time by order of the county commissioners.

Thing is, they don't enforce any safe 6 ft distancing between people once they're inside. So what's the point? It's all "feel good" stuff that doesn't make anybody any safer but they're impressed that they're making an effort.

A guy at Lowe’s (shopper) asked me where my mask was.

I said F$&k Off and stood there looking at him until he walked away. Beta make type that I could have snapped like a twig.

At Safeway I was walking down an isle, there was a gal in a mask converging with me at a 90° angle.... she stomped her feet in disgust waiting for me to pass. I just stood there laughing my ass off at her. She backed up and reversed course.

Idiots

On Cape Cod, everyone wears masks at stores. I don't mind, as I'm in the over 70 danger zone (as far as I know). So, one of the local super-markets has instituted the usual measures--cart spacing, directional arrows in the aisles, etc.

In my town, though, there are only 10 verified cases of Covid. So, today, I noticed that people were a lot more relaxed in the store. Yes, they were masked, but they would walk by each other without acting weird, for the most part. And the shelves were stocked more fully in the meat aisle, and I scored some scratchy Scott's TP to bolster my diminishing stores.

As I was leaving with a full cart, and looking over my left shoulder at my wife, I heard a women say, "Sir, Sir, excuse me." What was going on was that she wanted to go by me. There was plenty of room to go by me on my right. But, what she really wanted, but didn't explicitly say, was for me to ostentatiously move way to the left side of my cart as she walked by. I did it, but raised my eyebrows. Remember, we were both masked.

I walked into a convenience store without my mask accidentally (required).
I apologized and said ‘omg I’m in here like I don’t have a care in the world’. I pulled my shirt up over my face and was going to leave to get my mask.
The worker said she didn’t care, were all going to get it anyway.

I was at the bank getting cash. An older woman came up to me and got about 6 inches from me and wanted to know if I used cash to purchase things. She then told me that I had to go home and Lysol all those bills to disinfect them.

I live a county with like .00002% cases.

Grandma Karen.
