De Blasio said that New York City will begin installing fencing along the city’s beaches and asked residents to avoid large gatherings, and playing sports. Lifeguards will also be prohibited from being on duty.
“Anyone tries to get in the water, they’ll be taken right out of the water,” De Blasio said.
“It’s a dangerous situation to ever go in the water if there are no lifeguards present,” he added.
Though Big Apple beaches are closed for Memorial Day weekend, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will allow beaches in other parts of the state to open. Beaches in Connecticut, Delaware, and New Jersey are also opening this coming weekend.

It’s okay.... The best beaches in New York are not within city limits..... Jones Beach and Long Beach are part of Nassau county..... And further out there’s Robert Moses Beach which is in Suffolk County, which is Trump territory!..... Hillary won Nassau but only by 5%.... Suburban Long Islanders are not going to put up with this crap..... And we’ve still got at least another month to go before legitimate beach weather here..... I don’t even attempt to go into the water until early July.... But I’m a cold water wimp!

what a stupid statement; all lifeguards do is blow whistles at you if you get three yards further than their straight ahead field of vision..apparently these brainiacs can’t figure out how to use their necks which allow them a panoramic view...
