Governor Abbott is making an announcement today about further opening up of Texas. I know it won’t be enough and I hope the lawsuits mount so that things are accelerated. Best of luck to those in Michigan and California and other Dem states - your situation with respect to being able to exercise constitutional rights seems worse. Are there any Republican governors who are stricter than the Democrat governors? Is this turning into a divide with Trump and red state governors on one side and Fauci and Dem governors on the other? If so I think many more than Elon Musk will have a “red pill” moment(he tweeted it). The libertarians like him should be Republican leaning for the foreseeable future.

On the issue of people working at home, I think that as things unwind and we’re removed from house arrest, there will be a lot of people that will remain “work at home” at least part of the time. Which, I think is good for many.
You mentioned a 3 hour commute, and that is just way too much - I’d be bonkers by the time I got there and by the time I got home. A 50 minute drive had me wanting to commit nasty acts on my fellow motorists at times. Anyway, the amount of fuel and aggravation that would be saved by doing more work from home would be a great plus, especially for people in large urban areas that have a long commute.

What made my commute possible was the ability to listen to stitcher, youtube videos, etc. and my commute is mostly Kentucky twisties in an FRS with Michelin’s best “non-autocross” sports tires. I “race” to work every day.
I used to live in the Seattle area. If my three hours was stop and go in that kind of traffic, well, I’d be in prison now. :)

Good for you! My daily walk takes me past a shuttered church pastored by a gutless wonder who walks carefully not to jeopardize his 501(c)(3) tax status. I'm done with them and I'm quite happy praying quietly in my own way. Let the sheep be led by these so called shepherds. I'm better off alone when it comes to the Almighty.
Ahhhh, the Kentucky twisties! Now that might be a more pleasant commute. Even in my F-150 with the aftermarket antisway bar in back, twisty roads are enjoyable. One of the great benefits to having moved to TN several years ago.
I had the pleasure, for a couple of years, of living in the southern suburbs of Cleveland, OH, and working kind of out in a smaller town just west of Akron. A commute that could be enjoyed over 30 minutes on an early Sunday morning, but took 45 minutes to an hour at 7:30 AM on a weekday.

Whenever I drive up to Cleveland, I make it a point to take US-27 north, and then cut across some twisty roads in northern Tennessee, finally hitting I-75 well north of Knoxville. It's just an enjoyable portion of the trip. 75 in southern KY is pretty nice too, and people do tend to push the speed a little bit. But alas, there are sheriffs and troopers out. Not as nasty as Ohio, but they're out there.
Anyway, back on the virus topic, my trip to NE Ohio next week was cancelled (by me) due to the shutdown. I know that OH is starting to open up, as is TN and (maybe) KY, but I pushed it off until July. If things aren't fairly normal by then, I think we'll be seeing a couple of democrat governors hanging from lamp posts, Mussolini style.
