Los Angeles is requiring essentially everybody in the city wear a face covering at all times whenever outdoors, a policy Mayor Eric Garcetti says will help the local economy reopen faster.
Garcetti announced the order on Wednesday evening, telling city residents: "Bring your mask with you whenever you leave your home."
Children under 2, as well as a limited number of individuals with disabilities, are exempt from the order, the mayor's office said in a press release.
"Face coverings help stop the spread of the virus," Garcetti, a Democrat, said in the release. "Wearing them whenever we’re away from home will create a meaningful layer of protection for people we might come into contact with, and that makes sense at this stage of our response to the crisis."
The order came shortly after Garcetti said that the city will "never be completely open" until scientists discover a cure for coronavirus.
The mayor at the time was partially walking back comments made earlier in the day by Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, who said Tuesday that the city's stay-at-home order would be extended "with all certainty" for the next three months.

You notice the mask brigade here on Free Republic, people Mr. Franklin warned us about. The statists have been wrong on everything, but want us to continue to disregard that and follow orders.
Well,most on here knew this would be the outcome of a crisis that has turned out more hoax than real. The bar now is getting in our car and driving to the moon.
If masks work, why not have jail and prison inmates wear them instead of turning them loose?

You are right about the insanity. I don’t live in Los Angeles. Some people questioned me yesterday while I was outside why I don’t wear a mask.
I agree. People think if you get it you will die. It is crazy.
Something has to be done as soon as possible to stop this madness. I don’t care who stops it. I just want it stopped and go back to my life like it was before. We will all need therapy if this goes on longer.

I have been mentally gaming out how to get food shipped to me. I’m not sure the Safeway here does delivery but I’m pretty sure they charge for it. When I thought it was their policy I was thinking I’d never set foot in there again. Stil angry about the rude girl at the door though. I read the ordinance and there was nothing about requiring businesses to be rude.
I’ve shopped at that store since it opened. Probably twice as long as that little twit has been alive.
Well, he can say it, but I can tell you that here in West Hollywood, people are strolling out and about without them. Some of us compromise with a bandana or scarf around our necks that we can pull up if we go into a store, but... by and large, Angelenos are over it.
Oops! I overlooked that statement. I'll have to look into that. I like doing my shopping though. I'll probably show up on June 11th without a mask.

But Trail Ridge will open at some point and you can take a nice drive to Grand Lake or the Safeway in Fraser.
Masks are a suggestion in Grand County. I haven’t heard about any town ordinances.

I was outdoors today at Sepulveda basin park by the 101 & 405 freeway about 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Many many people out today. In groups and in singles. I guess maybe 90% were not wearing masks.
I saw some fools wearing masks. There were 8 people total including 4 small kids from maybe 6 to 12 wearing masks as well going to ride their bikes. I bet anything they all took them off before too long as they would have keeled over from breathing their own cO2. Most people were out and about having a day in the park. No round up of people not wearing the democrat party masks.
Ludicrous. This is totally out of control.
No, they won’t extend it. No chance they will impose this during the tourist season and no possibility to enforce it then either.
If you’ve ever seen Jaws then that is how politics works in tourist towns. It has to or businesses die. IMO a lot of them are already on their death beds due to the closing of hotels and motels back in March. Margins are slim in the best years here.
