So I guess you are saying that we, the whole country, is not shutdown and the economy is just fine. The sheeple of this country rolled over as soon as they were told. complacency seems the new normal as they say.

First, I don't support the shutdown and no the economy is not just fine. But I don't see the so-called sheeple just rolling over and taking it. I see a lot of pushback.

Decades of pre work by liberals, communists, etc went into tearing down our Republic.

Public officials - especially in heath roles - were previously thought to be neutral arbiters, but the crisis hs revealed them to be collectivist ideologues.

No crisis in the future can be addressed correctly until newly-elected conservative leaders start forcefully cleaning house on Day One, despite MSM squawking. GWB's refusal to clear out the holdovers essentially turned his term into an eight-year extension of the Clinton Administration.

As I said too few and way too late. I still do not see any end enforced by any push back. Haven’t heard a word about the end game aside for maybe when there is a vaccine.

I am calm ... quite obviously a lot more calm than are you, Mr. Jackson.

My point is that there are, quite sadly, a significant number of my friends on the Right -- including several here at FreeRepublic -- who remain so frightened by this Chinese virus that they actively (enthusiastically in some posts) provide tacit support to the ongoing suspension by state-level politicians of our Constitution and of our unalienable right to liberty. They do so by promoting the ongoing destruction of our economy through their support of the continued lockdown of non-favored (non-essential, if you prefer) private businesses subject not to the control of the business owners but to the whims of the state-level tyrants. They contribute also to the destruction of our social fabric -- but only "until it's safe", of course -- by acquiescing to and promoting the state-level tyrants' expanding, incessant and unending diktats to avoid any type of social interaction by requiring that in public you must hide your face -- your identity -- with those dehumanizing and completely ineffective masks and, even more ridiculous, scarves and even as the Chinese virus wanes, command that you maintain a 12-foot diameter "portable safe space" (or "social distancing" which is anything but "social") from every other human being you come across (much less, God forbid, shake their hand or give them a hug).

I've asked a few of these posters what it would take -- what must happen -- for them to join with those of us who value liberty and the Constitution over absolute safety. I have not received a response from any of them. How about you, Mr. Jackson? Have you considered what needs to occur before you can support returning America to a constitutional republic?

Oh, almost forgot. In your response you accused me of -- what was it? -- oh yes, "outrageous name calling" (sic). As you must know, your statement is not true; I dissect specious arguments through logic and reason ... never through name-calling. However, I am curious as to what caused you to post this lie. Thank you & Cheers!

No "strawman" here my FRiend. An 800-pound liberty-crushing, American Republic-destroying gorilla for sure, but no strawman.

I practice (and it does take considerable discipline especially in an emotionally-charged situation) the self-descriptive discipline of The Two "Obs": Objectivity and Observation. Give it an honest try and at the very least you'll achieve a different perspective on things. Truly. Sincere best wishes & Cheers!

For the flubros here think that this is all about nothing, I suggest an article brought to our attention by Travis: COVID-19 Superspreader Events in 28 Countries: Critical Patterns and Lessons

Everyone will really want to read that one.

Here is but one story:

At a February 15 festival in Gangelt, a town in Germany’s tiny Heinsberg district, “beer and wine flowed aplenty as approximately 350 adults in fancy dress locked arms on long wooden benches and swayed to the rhythm of music provided by a live band. During an interval in the programme, guests got up to mingle with friends and relatives at other tables, greeting each other as Rhineland tradition commands, with a bützchen, or peck on the cheek.” Since that time, more than 40 Germans from the Heinsberg district have died. It’s been called “Germany’s Wuhan.”

So while the flubros here claim it's all a nothingburger, some of us believe that reasonable public health measures are justifiable and necessary so we don't find ourselves on the wrong side of the 40 dead out of 350 attendees.

Still tilting and strawmen. Why don't you address that the Whitmer or Judge Sullivan.

"Strawman" is not an answer to my legitimate, non-threatening question to those not fully supportive of limiting further damage to our economy and to our social fabric by re-opening America as quickly as possible. I'll try one last time with you, my FRiend, with my question as originally presented:

What must occur before you would join in with the growing demand that the governors end the lockdown of America and restore our liberties such as freedom to travel, freedom to reopen our businesses, freedom to engage in group activities such as sports, parties and concerts ... those sorts of things?

I acknowledge that restoring America to its former greatness may take time and I presume you agree that, eventually, this restoration must happen. I would be most grateful, Mr. Jackson, for a thoughtful response. Many thanks.

Another Strawman. And your question is argumentative.

Not argumentative at all. I did not ask you to defend anything ... my question is simply for information.

It's clear you haven't thought this through, and when you have, please get back to me ... for information purposes only, I assure you. In the meantime, be well. Cheers!

Your questions are argumentative and based upon a false presumption, e.g. you have erected a strawman.

An objection to an improperly formed question is not an evasion.

Go look it up. It is argumentative. You create false dichotomies and you presume people who object are against the position that you want them to subscribe to. In other words, you are a scoundrel, just like any cheap lawyer is a scoundrel. Yes I am now name-calling. Some scoundrels deserve it.

As I wrote, please get back to me when you have thought things through. In the meanwhile I will strive to recover from the moniker you have assigned to me ... although the bigger struggle will be to recover from your abuse of the English language I have had to endure during our mercifully brief — and now ended — correspondence. My recommendation is that you stick to two-syllable words as you are clearly not up to the challenges of complex words and reasoned argument. Your friend, The Scoundrel.

Yes you do, with your self-righteous, hand-wringing “You don’t have the right to infect me with your contagion” remark, which is what is being used as the pretext for all of this crap.

Whatever. You’re another fearbro I won’t waste any more time on. With each passing day, the stupidity and fecklessness of you and the rest of the fearbros is being exposed for what it is.

Just...wow.

Here I thought it was Covid that was killing people.

My list would have Trump wins reelection, GOP Keeps the Senate, and Pelosi loses the House, as well as most state-election democrats losing (Governors, legislatures, etc). If this happens, Deep State has failed. had a setback.

Fixed.

Really? I had no idea it was a deadly disease. I listen to the flubors here and they tell me it is not so, and now you tell me otherwise. I am very very confused. I wish you idiots would make up your minds.
