Antibody testing not available to the general public.
So how will we ever be able to confirm the number of people who have already contracted the virus and now posses antibodies so we can get a real picture of the morbidity rate for covid-19. As it stands now, the data is insufficient to set a morbidity rate, and therefor the rate being touted is worthless.
This isn't my field -- but isn't the above a bit of a logical break? How do they know anyone has had COVID-19? Wouldn't the basic way of knowing that piece be the testing of antibodies?
The antibody assays are not helpful, at a person level,
among other things high false positive/false negative rates as well as being confounded by multiple strains due to rapid mutation of the SSRNA genome
Wow, first confirmation I have heard of this although I expected this to be the case. Gotta meep that denominator as low as possible.
How can anyone still believe there is not an agenda riding of the coat tails of this virus?
Which is equally ludicrous because so many are asymptomatic.
Just tell them about 1 month ago you had trouble breathing, a fever, headache, and had to sleep on your stomach or you felt like you were going to die.

COVID-19 Antibody Testing: Tougher Than True/False
An Important Missing piece of The COVID-19 Puzzle
Oh, wait. I know what it is - - - - - - - - - TRUTH!
See? There's somebody who knows what they are talking about. Everybody knows about SSRNA genome. Multiple strains and rapid mutations are definitely confounding factors in trying to understand something. So just stop asking silly questions because somebody has already thought of an answer of why your questions are just silly.
Many of us in my county are waiting on an antibody test. There is one being offered within about a two hour drive from here. I’m looking for the Abbot Labs test. Supposedly, it’s better than 99 percent accurate. There is a facility about three hours from me that is offering it, and the cost is $225. But, insurance says they will pay for it. Even if they didn’t, it would be worth it to me. I could then feel like I could get back to a normal life. As it is, the case count keeps rising here.
Sounds like they are in the process of testing the effectiveness of the antibody test by looking for folks who can attest they had the virus, then employing the antibody test to measure if the test can detect the virus. If that trial works out, then they would have the confidence to advance to the next phase of blind antibody testing.
...So just stop asking silly questions because somebody has already thought of an answer of why your questions are just silly.
The question is not silly if one does not understand,
students are to be taught, open minds are to be filled
Why would you spend $225 for a test when you are not currently sick. Just put on your surgical mask and walk to the end of your driveway and throw $225 out into the street. At least you can then walk out and pick it up.
The same thing happened to a friend & co-worker of mine.
Since neither was sent for an actual test, does it mean neither can be tested for anti-bodies?
And how many more MILLIONS of people are in this same category? They've likely had it and will not be tested?
To be honest, reliable information has been very hard to come by due to all the disinformation. One thing that is true is that countries that have or have had (in recent memory) mandatory tb vaccinations have sailed through this as well as having far fewer expenses for inflammatory diseases.
does anybody know how long after you have covid that you would test negative for covid?
many people suspect that they already had covid in Dec/Jan/Feb.
‘The hospital I work at in NorCal (The State of Jefferson) offers covid testing but you have to show symptoms.’
The county I live in south of you and north of Gay Frisco is supposedly testing everyone, who applies on line for free.
However, if you are over 60 and live in a couple of upscale zip codes, they tell you “no test or soup for you” in your online encounter.
The local fish wrap is not interested in pursuing, why we are being turned down. They are still running articles about how everyone is able to get the test and for free.
It is always easy to point out why things won't work. There is always a chance that things won't work. There is also a pretty good chance that things can work, like flight, sending people to the moon, and detecting gravity waves.
And all the crap about mutations? If the virus mutates, it isn't the same any more, therefore your antibodies won't work and it will come around again as a different virus and reinfect you. This is another defeatist argument. Most mutations do not help an organism to survive. Each mutation happens in an individual virion, and then would have to multiply as its own virus to be a threat. That would be a new patient zero for every mutation.
If we are going to be paralyzed by fear, perhaps we should distribute tanks of carbon monoxide so people can just end their lives and not have to live with the possibility of dying. The only way a virus can kill you is if you are not already dead.
"How many Americans have died from the SEASONAL FLU this year?"
They have no answer.
