Yeah, you're not kidding.
Pretty justified so far as I can tell. Violent man attacks someone with a shotgun, violent man gets shot.
Travon attacked someone with a gun too. Travon got shot.
Underlying principle here is "don't attack a man with your bare hands when he has a gun."
Especially not a shotgun.
That does not fit the facts of the case as I have seen/read.
The McMichaels took a route to get ahead of Arbery.
They did not "instigate the altercation".
One of the McMichaels appears to have said they wanted to conduct a citizen's arrest. No arrest happened before Arbery attacked Travis McMachael.
They yelled at him to "stop, we want to talk to you". If that is "instigation" then Arbery's sprinting away from the house under construction was "instigation".
There is no evidence they ever hindered him or pointed a weapon at him.

That means that’s my guess how the trial will turn out.
It was obvious Zimmerman acted in self defense. Consequently he was acquitted.
It’s obvious here that’s not a defense for the shooter given his actions to instigate to altercation.
Just how it is.
If he’s lucky he gets manslaughter.
I guess that solves a couple of thorny problems. This is shaping up to be another OJ Simpson debacle. At least no one will accuse her of trying to throw the case.
This is still going to be a f***ing mess. It will all come down to what the Jury looks like.

If by "instigated" you mean stood there holding a shotgun while some idiot runs up and tries to take it away from him. Sure.

Shooter is on left side of double yellow line on opposite side of road.
Runner in middle of road veers right. Camera loses sight (did the videoer think they were about to shoot him?).
Camera moves back and runner runs to right of truck.
Runner has run as far away as possible from guy with gun on the left side of road.
Guy with shotgun is next visible at 20.
He is now across double yellow lines where the runner ran to.
It’s all on video.
Runner ran as far away as possible from guy with shotgun. Shooter pursued and intercepted.
And I will respectfully disagree on principle.
A case such as this needs to be decided on the facts of the case itself. What exactly happened on that exact day, in the moments when the now-deceased and the accused interacted? Nothing more and nothing less.
What either party said or did on previous occasions is irrelevant.
The dead guy acting like a punk on previous occasions doesn’t make him guilty of a crime on this day, or mean that he deserved summary execution by a pair of vigilantes, as punishment for his sum total of perceived transgressions, as you suggest.
By the same standard, the 2 white guys aren’t necessarily guilty of Murder 1, nor can self defense be ruled out, just because they may subscribe to a particular worldview, or may have used the n-word last week or last year.
Maybe the black guy was culpable in his own death, maybe not. But only on the day in question, no other.
He’s dead & won’t be testifying.
Fact remains, for the 2 white guys to be convicted, there needs to be sufficient evidence to convince a jury, and it looks like that video is open for interpretation, so good luck wit dat.
Some hockey players attach weights to their skates during practice, to build up their legs and stamina
Some basket ball players wrap weights around their ankles and jog around a gym.
Never heard of a runner strapping on heavy boots (weights) and going for a run
Runner worried about guy with the gun does not continue running towards guy with gun. Runner interposes the truck between himself and guy with the gun, and backs away into the grass and runs behind some houses.
Overweight fat guy with the gun would have no hope to keep up with him.
Better yet, run to the car coming up the road and get behind it.

He stated that in court. But yet no one can name a single one of his victims.
Name a single victim of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. Name a single victim of the Pensacola Naval Base shooting. Name a single victim of the Dayton, Ohio mass shooting.
Because the media suppressed that story.

He went from the left side of the road to in font of the truck on the right side of the double yellow lines.
The runner ran away from him by going to the right.
Shooter moved to where the runner was.
Look at the video up to 15 sec. He is always on the left side of the double yellow lines in incoming traffic lane.
The runner veers right to run around the truck on the right sude which is also running as far as possible from where the shotgun holder is standing.
Next time the shotgun holder is visible he has moved right and is now on the right side if the double yellow line.
Unless the road moved under him he didn’t “just stand there.”
Yep, agree completely. There is a juvenile detention center near where I live and a few years ago a young lady was running away and I stopped her. About 8 months ago the same thing happened and I did not stop the young lady. Why? the first one was white and the second one was black.
Over the course of my life there have been several times when I have stepped in and helped in an unpleasant situation. Any such situation involving a black person that doesn’t directly effect me or mine, I’m staying out of it.
Yes it is on the video, but you are seeing things I do not.
Travis McMichael did not intercept Arbery, because Arbery made a 90 degree turn and ran at McMichael. There would not have been any contact, if Arbery had not run at Travis McMichael.
Can you see the shotgun in the video before the altercation?
It seems likely McMichael had it, but I have not been able to spot it.
I've read that there's a photo of the dead guy trespassing in a house under construction.If true that could go to character.OTOH,if either of the white guys have a history with the police,with drugs or booze,with domestic violence that prove to be worthy of consideration.
As time passed more and more evidence come to light about Trayvon (including the results of his autopsy) to strongly suggest that he had it coming.Ditto "The Gentle Giant".
The same may,or may not,prove true of one,or more,of those three guys.
I'll look at it more closely. I will especially look for the points you mentioned. All the times I was watching it I was focused on what Arbery was doing, and what I saw looked nuts to me.
