What happens when some unsuspecting aircraft passes through the laser beam?
To: BenLurkin
Read articles 30. -40 years ago of the feasibility,on a grand scale, by beaming enough microwave energy from an orbiting platform to receiving stations ( in the Canadian wilds for safety) to power much of North America l.

But then there is also the effect of microwaves on metallic objects like satellites.

Not just a spy plane or a microwave beam.
It is also the name of Elon Musk's next child.

How hard would it be to adjust the intensity of the beam a little to fry some ISIS stronghold from space when it’s not being used to make coffee in the officer’s mess in Mosul?

I remember when this concept was being pushed hard to power up the U.S., 73-74?
As usual the eco-nuts went berserk and it faded away.
I recall one of the claimed panics was that it would render migratory birds unable to navigate.

Tesla’s dream has become reality....the sticking point was the efficient reception of such directed energy and conversion into useful amounts of electricity...
Tesla could beam energy out but couldn’t control it or convert it very well....
Looks like we can do it now.
To: BenLurkin
Forget it. While it’s politically OK to kill birds with windmills, a military use of microwaves that may affect bird will be deemed intolerable.
