Ah, yes, but you are using logic for your argument. Only emotions are allowed for this.

Government Obedience Training.

This has nothing to do with medicine.

Budgets have to be cut, municipal pools should be among the lowest priorities for 2020 -- particularly in blue state municipalities.

>>it seems they want social distancing in the pool

Tell them that’s not how social distancing works.

Ask them if they can inject some chlorine (or salt) into the water to disinfect it.

>> In addition all surfaces must be wiped today on a regular basis, bathrooms, snack bar, and all railings, etc.

Ask them if you should wash your hands before entering the pool, after leaving the pool, and while in the pool.

Also ask them if you need to wash any place else after leaving the pool.

I laughed at Chris Cuomo’s wife when she said she was “bathing in bleach” or whatever she said.

However, spending your summer sitting in the sunlight by a chlorinated pool seems like good idea to me.

Closing them never made sense.

I cannot imagine the corona virus liking chlorinated water to much. In fact, you end up with chlorine in the air too.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/water.html (They are legalistic and cautious in what they write, but even they basically admit it without contradicting other government entities of course - you don’t want to contradict or step on toes)

IMHO- “gubbermint” made all these blanket rules and enforced them, but if you think about what they did, when and where, a lot of it didn’t make any sense. Think about it for a second, sunlight (UV kills the virus), chlorine (kills the virus), heat such as in a real hot tub (kills the virus)… Then a certain percentage of the chlorine will also go from the water into the air...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23537855

On the other hand, government with their awesome decision making that is all scientific and all (morons), would much rather you stay in you home where it’s dark, cool, where you have lots of surfaces where the virus can persist for a very long time (cardboard, carpet, paper)…

Texas is the same but 25% of capacity is allowed instead of 50%. I want all the rules to go away.

This pool social distancing doesn’t go far enough.

Normally, six feet must be maintained *horizontally*. For a pool, must be Vertically too!

Someone might be swimming underwater, submerged beneath someone sipping their mai-tai on their raft.

It all comes down to liability. If a person who visits the pool contracts COVID, the person doesn’t even have to definitively prove they caught it there. They just have to prove that the pool didn’t enforce all the rules and that they possibly caught it there.

Some attorneys are already formulating their battle plans. Decent ones are warning defense attorneys so that they can protect their clients.

Government might be shielded from lawsuits, but business owners and pool operators are NOT. I have a CPM/CPO as part of my job. I’m the first person they will sue if someone gets sick. The cleaning regimen and social distancing guidelines are expensive and difficult to enforce. I’m keeping the pool closed until the Gov opens up completely.

Many HOA community pools in UpState SC have made the decision not to even attempt to open this summer. The reason is not so much fear about spreading the coronavirus but the cost and burden of complying with expected health department rules about social distancing and extra sanitation measures.

“social distancing for all others, this next point is confusing, it seems they want social distancing in the pool”

***

No way that the pool lifeguard will enforce this. His job (and his paycheck) is safety...NOT POLICING. I predict (just like my local supermarket line-up) that there will be people who will NOT do the 6-feet thingy’ and chill out with beers. My nephew was a lifeguard for a school pool center and his only headache were idiots bringing alcohol.

We are going to have to deal with a lot of inconvenience until we get a vaccine that is readily available and or some form of reliable treatment. Until then, there are places and activities that I am not going to even think about. Public pools and movie theaters are near the top of that list. Some places are relaxing restrictions too fast and we are likely to see a spike in infections.
