You should be able to find replicas pretty easily. Check the inter webs for them.

What do you mean? You want an AR? You want a Brown Bess musket? Or you want a full size long-barrel AR that some people call a musket in contrast to an M4?
Not that any of those are the wrong answer either!
If you want an actual musket, There are some beautiful trade muskets sold his curios only. All they need is for the touchhole to be drilled. And there are no legalities involving that. Unless youre in New Jersey or something where a butter knife is probably illegal.
There are companies that make Charleville, Brown Bess, and ‘trade rifles’. The AR will be less costly!!
I think Euroarms, Pietta, and Interarms are where you should look. These are not Pyrodex-capable, so check your local explosives laws re black powder.
Cabela’s, https://www.cabelas.com/browse.cmd?categoryId=734095080&CQ_search=musket&CQ_zstype=REG. Because they’re black powder you can buy one on-line without registering it and have them send it directly to your house.

Youll have to call and see but they have some very cool themed rifles if you want one or just an average mil spec rifle
You might look at Dixie Gun Works and Track of the Wolf.
I was never into smoothbores myself and wanted a custom-made flintlock Pennsylvania/Kentucky rifle for years, but am now too old to get much use from one.

I bought a British Sea Service Pattern flintlock pistol from the company at the link. Perfect replica, with Tower markings, in .62 caliber. Touchhole was not drilled so it was shipped to my Kansas home by mail. This company provided the pistols used in Master and Commander. After some advice from a friend on the size of the touchhole and the location, it went into my drill press and it was a legal firearm.
Flints, patches, leather for the flint, lead balls are readily available for the reenactment market. Black powder can also be ordered and shipped from Midway (MO company) with some shipping restrictions that causes you to order more than you really need, but that wasn’t a problem for me.
Shoots great once you get used to the delay with Black Powder. The also sell muskets and rifles, period pieces. High quality

Try Ancestryarms.com. They have the real thing. Picked up an 1863 Springfield and 1826 Springfield there. Both originals. Might want to be careful about firing a 200 year old gun.
This Isaac Haines Longrifle, .54 caliber, 42" swamped octagon barrel, has better looking relief and inlay than most. But it is very expensive.
Try here Track of the Wolf. They usually have some exceptional consignment arms, even if expensive.

It has been decades since I’ve been there, but you may want to try a visit to Silver Dollar City. My father actually bought a black powder kit from there (in the 70’s) and it still works pretty well.
