We now say not to use the archaic and sexist term "mistress" for a woman in a long-term sexual relationship with, and financially supported by, a man who is married to someone else.
Instead, use an alternative like companion or lover on first reference. Provide details later.

Then get rid of all the words for women, too. I know men don’t like to be referred to as whores, sluts, tramps, thot, and all that, but the same behavior is the same thing.

I think "concubine" is fine. It reflects history and reality, virtually all powerful men have one or more, and it is also a simple acknowledgement of the truth that the hypergamous woman would rather have 1/10th of the powerful man than 100% of a man closer to her own level.
But since feminists fear and hate this truth (among many others) I expect the forced societal usage of some faux "empowerment" label, instead. :)

Some people will slavishly follow APStylebook’s proclamation—or any kind of groupthink.
And attack anyone that doesn’t comply-

My English 101 teacher said that a mistress is what is found between a mister and a mattress.

I would prefer she be known as an adulteress because that’s what she is/was and knowingly slept with a married man without considering there is a wife and kids who would be the ones who have deep wounds from this. Of course, the man is just as guilty, too.

“Mistress” is the feminine version of “master.” It was a positive word, meaning the boss of the guy she went with. But the word started to take on negative implications because of what it represents—the betrayal of marriage.
Any other word would take on negative implications because of what it stood for.

Instead, use an alternative like companion or lover on first reference. Provide details later. How about "ho"? Like Willie introducing Kamala..."And this is my ho." Or Hunter introducing Lunden
"And this is my ho. She dances on a po."
