The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youll be solving them all within a few days. If youre stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hals Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please dont put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
THE EVERYDAY KINDNESS OF THE BACKROADS MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THE ACTS OF GREED IN THE HEADLINES. CHARLES KURALT
Easy one again, Folks. This one flows like the Mississippi, and I suspect everyone will get it under a minute, depending on how fast you can write or peck out the letters with HAL.
Wow, that was an easy one!
People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion. - Albert Einstein
Interesting quote. Second and third words, a couple of endings....and there it is.
EZ if you remember relative frequency of letters in English:
e 12.70%
t 9.06%
a 8.17%
o 7.51%
i 6.97%
n 6.75%
s 6.33%
Doesn’t always work, but on this one, it’s a snap.
1 min or so, maybe a bit more.
2nd and 3rd words, 1st word of 2nd sentence, —> off to the races.
About a minute. Author’s name is obvious and the rest just drops.
I took a shot at the name, the rest is...
Two minutes.
Common letter, small words. Got the author last, strangely.
Yeah, couple minutes as I wake up.
Super easy!
God, Magnum, why don’t you just spell it out...At least mine are super subtle.... :-)
