:: I’ve long thought that “hard scientists’ “ smugness was an arrogant farce due to their tunnel visioned myopia & self-aggrandizing elitism. ::

So, Jocko, give us your interpretation of WWG1WGA.
What does it mean to you?
And, would you consider it a “consensus view” of the membership on this thread?

I ask for the rest of the smug and elitist “hard scientists” here that take umbrage at your backhanded insult.

It's the "secret king" syndrome of Vox Day's gammas in the socio-sexual hierarchy.

Hear me out, it wont' take long.

Everyone's heard of alphas and betas.

Conventional thinking is "alphas get the chicks, betas go without"

or "Alpha sex, Beta Checks" (sanitized version).

Vox redefines slightly, and adds several others.

Alpha = leader of the pack. Chicks dig them, guys want to be them. (But not a tyrant; alphas take care of their pack.)

Beta = loyal lieutenant. Gets the ex-girlfriends of the alphas, or non-used-up not-as-hot girls.

Sigma = lone wolf, could be an alpha but too busy marching to the beat of his own drum. Some girls like this kind of independent spirit.

Delta= loser but not bitter, not given up; needs an alpha or beta to "teach him the ropes."

Gamma = total loser; the ones girls shy away from because "he's *creepy*".
Secret King, always snarky and having to prove he's right.
Takes offense easily. Think Eustace Clarence Scrubb from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in Narnia.
Computer nerd in Mom's basement .
THESE are the ones who are the hard scientists / tech leaders of today.

Math can be ambiguous at times. Sometimes an equation yields two answers.
Consider, SQRT(4). The solution has two answers, 2 and -2.

Sometimes you must use your imagination to see the answer.
Consider, SQRT(-1).

Every now and then you get a mathematician with musical ability. The following video is cute but not very meaningful for non-mathematicians.

Where are the zeros of Zeta of S?
