Stream columnist Jason Scott Jones took part in the #ReOpen Hawaii demonstration last week.
He texted me right after posting bail. So I decided to interview him.
I saw that sweet pic of you getting arrested. What happened?
Im in trouble with the lawless Governor of Hawaii and the Mayor of Honolulu. Or more accurately, Im in trouble with distant, un-American, unelected bureaucrats. Theyre working their will through Governor Ige and Mayor Caldwell. I was arrested on Friday for participating in the #ReOpen Hawaii event.
What did you observe about law enforcement at the re-open Hawaii protest? How were they acting? What were their orders, as far as you could tell?
Initially, I was relieved. It looked like we would have a short rally, express our grievances with the Mayor and Governor. And then head home for a barbecue with the family. About 30 minutes in, I noticed three separate groups of police officers. They began to move in from all three available directions in a standard cordon operation. This made my blood boil. I couldnt believe our mayor would order police to use military tactics against the families of Hawaii.

Do you see Americans as giving in to panic, and surrendering fundamental liberties based on weak or speculative evidence? Is this a trial run by enemies of liberty, to see how Reichstag fire panic can be weaponized to steal our rights?
We have surrendered our inherited freedoms without a fight. We will see if we will have to fight to regain them. Or if by the grace of God, men like DeBlasio and Cuomo surrender their totalitarian powers peacefully.

A heavy majority of people in Hawaii support the arrest of these covidiots. (They are looking at a year in prison and a $5,000 fine)
They are putting public health and safety in jeopardy.
What do you think of the arrests and citations at Fridays Re-Open Hawaii Now rally?
A. Fine; protesters violated ban on gathering (970 Votes)
C. Excessive; agree with protesters (217 Votes)
B. Bit much, although I disagree with protesters (76 Votes)
By the way he wasn’t arrested for participating in a protest, he was arrested for not wearing a mask, not social distancing, and putting others in jeopardy.
Heaven forbid if he drove a car to the protest.
I would not say that our rights were surrendered. From what I saw it was the sheep demanding that the Government take their rights and rule them with an iron fist.
Wear your chains lightly.
I know its not the same, but would you equate their mentality, as being similar to that of Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonssøn Quisling? I am with the protesters. I hope there are lawsuits coming too. F the commie bastards.
Thats probably closer to the truth than anything. At first, even I thought that maybe these clowns actually cared about the public. They dont, or at least I think most dont. When they said you could not buy seeds, but could buy lottery tickets, I figured it was screwed up. I am now convinced the whole lockdown, or at least after a couple weeks of it, is a hoax, to get orange man badout of office.
Kneel and kiss the ring of your oppressors...it makes them feel powerful....
‘They are putting public health and safety in jeopardy.’
no, they aren’t, frightened one...
‘he was arrested for not wearing a mask, not social distancing, and putting others in jeopardy.’
which makes you a gleeful little peeful, doesn’t it...?
I noticed a sign at one of the protests:
Men choose.
Slaves obey.
Pretty god.
The lockdown needs to end. My coworker’s 14 year old nephew in Oregon, who wasn’t doing well with the lockdown, committed suicide a couple of nights ago. The boy had asked his father to play some game with him but the dad was working and said no. It was the last time they spoke. The poor father is basically catatonic now. Won’t speak, eat or drink, clutching and clinging to a shirt of the child’s.
Saddest thing I have ever heard.
Again, the lockdown needs to end now.
