I’m sure the people who are testing vaccines already know about the new strain. I think the fact this strain is still a coronovirus means that the methods used to stop the MERS and SARS virus can be used to stop this mutated strain, which I might call SARS-CoV-3.
There is an urgent need to advise the public about abuse of power from government. A new strain should not affect policy, just like the old strain shouldn’t have.

A new strain? Not long ago it was reported that there was already at least 30 mutated strains that had been identified.
A May 1st letter to the American Society for Microbiology’s Journal of Virology identifies “An 81 nucleotide deletion in SARS-CoV-2 ORF7” which the authors say may potentially reduce viral fitness. So, who knows? since mutations are random and not teleological.

Oh boy! They’ve got what they need now! A second virus! Shut it down! Shut down the whole country! Shut down the power plants, shut down the water supply! Shut the whole thing down!
Alerts like this are essentially useless. The quarantine measures have not proved effective. In essence this is an admission that there will not be a vaccine since once there is a vaccine the virus that is not blocked will overwhelm the susceptible virus making the vaccine useless.
Basically we need to open up and work on drug therapy.

The false positive rate was 100%.
