That sounds like the L strain. It went through Italy we suspect and then New York. It is more virulent and deadly. The original strain was called S strain for source strain. But that was early research on the topic. The Chinese claimed the L strain spread faster and burned itself out supposedly and the S strain ended up being dominant. So we are on the L train now. Fast infection rate.

The elderly are the ones who needed to be locked up through this—but there should have been loud and clear messages to take significant supplements for vitamins C and D and zinc, at least.

And nothing. Absolutely no word on that.

“That sounds like the L strain.”

I believe that is the one they are talking about it. Free Republic identified that maybe 6 weeks ago being Italy.

Two days ago - "Feds send coronavirus strike force to Amarillo in response to outbreaks in meatpacking plants Potter County has roughly four times the infection rate of Harris and Dallas counties." https://www.texastribune.org/2020/05/02/amarillo-coronavirus-meatpacking/

Hey, Gov. Abbott, let's open up! /s

A couple days ago on FNC, Birx gave Judge Judy a really nasty look when she was asked if the US didn’t act quickly enough.

Your link - Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus response, said earlier Sunday that their projections have always estimated between 100,000 and 240,000 people could die even with mitigation measures in place.

How many will die now that the states are opening up with no mitigation measures? We all know that 6 ft. social distancing is a joke and a cough can travel 3 grocery aisles and not many will wear a mask or gloves or couldn't care less.

Don’t count on the summer temps to slow it down. Yesterday, in little rural Mason Co., TX where 24 cases suddenly popped up after a city council meeting after the stupid mayor came back from the beach (hey, stay at home!), it was 98 degrees.

If you don’t test and you don’t admit to the hospital, you keep the numbers down so you can open the state! Woo hoo! It’s all about the $$$, not the people.

'no court anywhere in the USA has held that CV19 orders are legally enforceable"

that's a couched statement, considering no challenges have been made in the last two months. But you're being misleading.

FEDERAL: 1944, Public Health Service Act - allows the President via EO to enforce quarantines on a national level once a national public health emergency has been declared by the CDC, and if the CDC determines that states will not or cannot control infection within their own borders “necessary to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of communicable diseases from foreign countries into the States or possessions, or from one State or possession into another State or possession.” This includes Presidential authority for "the apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals . . . for the purpose of preventing” state to state transmission of a communicable disease. It also allows for travel permits.

(This is the 'absolute power' Trump spoke of and that the illiterate scoffed at)

(And this is why, my DH, carried a letter of authorization as a critical need worker that allowed him, specifically in Arkansas, to rent a hotel room when rules in Arkansas allowed only essential workers and the quarantined to rent hotel rooms in that state)

The Public Health Service Act of 1944 follows and enhances legislation passed by Congress in 1878, 1890, 1893, and 1906, all of which authorized measures to prevent international and inter-state transmission of epidemic and/or communicable disease considered a major health threat to the nation.

Violation of a federal quarantine carries a penalty of $100k or a year in jail, but if violation causes death, that penalty rockets to $250K plus extended jail time.

STATES: 1824 - Gibbons vs Ogden, SCOTUS - held that states held the power to quarantine. This ruling was reffirmed by SCOTUS in Compagnie Francaise de Navigation a Vapeur vs. Louisiana Board of Health, Argued October 29-30, 1900. Affirmed June 2, 1902. 186 U.S. 380.

Each state, under their individual duty to protect the health, welfare and safety of its citizens via police powers held by each state, has enacted legislation that allows for the Governor, on recommendation of county health officials, or for county health officials themselves, to quarantine individuals or areas to control infectious disease within the boundries of their states, including closing borders. Whether it be forced quarantine of individuals, such as tuberculosis and measles patients under treatment, or isolating of entire neighborhoods or townships. (current example: Gallup, NM)

“How many will die now that the states are opening up”

The whole purpose of the stay at home, social distancing and mask wearing was to give our system a chance to get ready when it does happens. It was to buy the US time to develop treatments and to get the equipment/material in place.

Hard for people to take it serious when they do not trust the media reporting anymore. The media and the democrats have yelled wolf so much people do not believe them on the real threat.

The only way people will practice social distancing and start wearing a mask is only if they know someone they care about die.

If the projections are correct and the hot weather does not slow it down, they will know soon then start caring.

Hot weather isn’t going to do a thing to slow this monster down. Not unless we get 165 degree daily temperatures.

Germany is doing very well with reopening in small steps. After waiting until R0 was below 1, they began relaxing their lockdown. Their new daily cases is less than 1/10th of the peak and over 80% of their cases have recovered.

WORLDOMETERS / COUNTRIES / GERMANY

They are considering opening bars and restaurants soon, some this weekend.

German ministers aim to reopen restaurants within 2 weeks

Texas never saw the infection rate Germany had a month ago. Are they playing with fire? I guess we will soon find out...

Like those ventilators that went in the front door of NYC hospitals and out the back doors. That play went down the rabbit hole and was never investigated.

Who knew that Russian hospitals had such big windows? Maybe the workmen forgot to glue the glass in.. That must be it - faulty glue.

Unfortunately, a lot more than needed to. Use the lull in the storm to increase your preps and get ready as best as possible for when the SHTF big time.
