Fauci: 'We're not ready' for sports to return

Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said this week that the country is “not ready” for sports to make a return amid the coronavirus pandemic and indicated that leagues should be ready to “go without this sport for this season.”

In an interview with The New York Times published on Monday, Fauci, who is one of top experts leading the White House’s coronavirus task force, said “safety, for the players and for the fans, trumps everything” when it comes to the question of when sporting events will be able to resume in the country.

“If you can’t guarantee safety, then, unfortunately, you’re going to have to bite the bullet and say, ‘We may have to go without this sport for this season,’ ” he continued.

There are only three guarantees in life: Death, taxes, and viruses that will ALWAYS BE WITH US NO MATTER WHAT WE DO.

You hear that, ‘Doctor”?!

What a great sport, better than football for sure.

Would have to pay our women here too much for Title IX.

That is what I cannot figure out. It is time for POTUS to retire these two and maybe bring in some who have different opinions and don’t have a political agenda.

Did you hear that Dr. Farce was lettered in College.

Yep, he was the outstanding star of right handed pocket pool.

I think Dr. Fauci has reached his “use by” date. I think his “sell out” date is ongoing. POTUS needs to find a well qualified doctor who is NOT a part of the bureaucracy, since most bureaucrats seem to have been appointed by Oharmus or Clinker. Can’t trust many of George W. BS’s, either.

The UFC is going ahead and putting on events.

UFC 249 on May 9th is a really stacked card.

Organizations like the NCAA will likely very well take their orders from the Fauci-types. College football is right around the corner...if not the actual games, the practices and build-ups to the games. They're a big deal, and huge, huge money-makers for colleges, TV networks and media outlets. A decision will have to be made soon, and there will be a lot of pressure on the NCAA to find a way to allow this to happen.

Will be interesting to see where they go from here, especially as the states start opening back up.

He should know. He’s the one that gave the Wuhan lab the virus and funded it.

If money talks, there will be an MLB and NFL season this year. The media cannot afford No sports in the fall. Else, no TV and Holiday promotions.

You really think NBC Sports DOESN’T want the Olympics to happen?

just my $0.02

He has been at only 1 briefing in the last 10 days. PT is only doing about 2 briefings a week now, as the virus part of the chi com war on us begins to ease.

I did not like this fau(x)ci(com) guy when he was the Napoleon of the HIV/AIDS crisis almost 40 years ago. He said HIV/AIDS would be with us until we had a vaccine. He poo-pooed the treatments which actually worked. We are still looking for an HIV/AIDS vaccine.

Insert Covid-19 in place of HIV/AIDS and you have a repeat of Fauci’s position. He was wrong then. His is wrong now.

Same here on all counts.

Wife is the sports nut.

I love peace, quiet, being left alone, not getting dragged all over, and allowed to go what few places I like to go.

FWIW I do a lot to avoid interacting with people in general.

There are no guarantees in life. Where is the Highway Safety Board's experts. 38,000 people are killed each year in traffic accidents. Since we can't "guarantee safety" are we supposed to shut down the highways, roads and bridges? Of course not. Same thing with Fauci's asinine opinion.
