Mayor Martin Hicks from Grants, New Mexico broke with the liberal governor and vowed he will reopen his city next week. Mayor Hicks is a Democrat.
Hicks had this to say about Democrat Governor Michelle Grisham, The governor is killing us. Shes totally killing us.
The leftist governor wants businesses to remain closed until the middle of May. New Mexico has seen only 2,660 cases of the coronavirus and 93 deaths across the entire state. The state has seen 44 deaths for every million in population. There is no need to extend the lockdown.
The mayor of a small New Mexico city announced Thursday that he will allow small businesses to reopen next week in defiance of the governors order that shuttered nonessential businesses to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Grants Mayor Martin Modey Hicks said hes giving businesses permission to reopen on Monday and is ordering the police force in the city of about 9,000 people to prevent any State Police officers from issuing lockdown violation citations.
The governor is killing us. Shes totally killing us, Hicks said. So we have no choice. So right now, we are reopening. Let State Police come down here.
It doesn’t affect kids anyway. No need to social distance for themselves. It’s bringing the bug home to grandma but with the 3 drug cocktail being available to cure it most the time; I don’t see a problem.
Stay away from the Burger King in Grants.
Per the CDC, from 1993 to 2017, NM reported 109 deaths from Hantavirus in total.
Thanks for the tip.
We were there once, and it was not very clean. Also the one in Rio Rancho at Obregon and 528 is painfully slow, or at least it was when we were there.
The only fast food joint I would go to is Blake’s.
Not familiar with the Blakes chain. We like mom and pop places when we can find them.
Thanks so much!
I was going to add a few suggestions, but keep in mind I haven’t been in NM for about 9 years, so things may have changed.
