I parked my car very close to a bus stop...
A homeless guy was sitting on the bus bench.
I was about to get out of my car. Suddenly the homeless guy came to my car. He opened the door for my rear seats. He asked me to drive him somewhere.
I became very upset and asked him what he was doing. He then closed the car door and walked away...
I immediately drove away and parked somewhere else...
Be careful out there... Especially ladies...
This happened in Hollywood area... There are many homeless people in that area...
Whether or not you should charge him/her for gas money is the only remaining question...
Hollywood Park, Texas?
Did not know they had a big homeless problem there.
Keep the doors locked at all times only unlocking the one in use.
I live in a nice suburb and still do that.

I keep doors locked while driving...
I got out to see if I parked close to the curb...Then all the doors were open...I didn’t want get a ticket for not parking close to the curb.
In any case, I let my guard down...Not a good idea.
Usually there is never a cop when you need one...
Stay safe, keep your head on a swivel.
Just can’t be too careful these days.
Im so sorry. I didnt mean to scare you. I thought you were my Lyft driver. My bad.

I parked near a nightclub. I had to go to the gym.
I was getting out of my car. Some guy was approaching my car with his friends...They talked about some Uber driver. Then one guy tried to open the rear door. I had to tell him that I do not work for Uber...
Hundreds of homeless in Hollywood Park. Homeless deer.
I would think any vehicle with and auto unlock “feature” would have a way to disable it.
In a 2001 it’s probably something weird like turn the key on and off 3 times, lock the doors, unlock the doors, honk the horn, kill a chicken, repeat.
I’d suggest an interwebs search or call a dealer and mention you’re afraid a child will jump in to traffic when you park.
Most locks unlock automatically when the car is put in “Park”.
In the 1970s, a friend of mine realized that his Miami neighborhood was changing when, driving himself to high school in his senior year, he stopped at a traffic light a block from his home and a hooker opened the rear door of his car and climbed in as she pitched her services. In fairness to the eyesight and judgment of the enterprising working girl, even at seventeen, my friend was built like a lineman and his Sicilian ancestry made him look like one of Don Corleone’s leg-breakers.

Back then, in most cars, I don’t think you were able to close car doors by pushing one button...
The growing number of hookers and other criminal sorts in my friend's family neighborhood eventually led them to move out. The final straw was when his mother, a longtime school board accounting division employee, was stopped and questioned by the police one morning when walking down the street.
My friend's mother produced her driver's license and school board ID and, in sharp Irish-accented tones, explained to two chastened beat cops that car trouble was forcing her to walk to the bus stop to get to work and that, a native of Dublin, she had been born with flaming red hair. The cops drove her to the bus station downtown, with apologies for their mistake and compliments that she was quite attractive for a mother of five.
You need to become more situationally aware. What this means is to look around before getting out of your vehicle. When you are approaching your vehicle, the keys should be in your hands so that you do not need to dig through your purse to unlock your doors, and then during the loading of passengers and groceries. If you are alone, your alarm and unlock fob should only unlock the driver’s door.
If I am alone and I am approaching my truck late at night I start the engine. I then have one minute after I open the door to get the keys in the ignition before the alarm starts going off.
If I am sitting in my truck (or his car) and my hubby is inside of a store, my doors are locked within seconds of him exiting the vehicle.
When I load groceries, the first thing in the vehicle is my purse, then the groceries. When I turn to grab another item I scan the area for a second or two, to ensure that someone has not moved up behind me.
My purse hangs over my head and shoulders. This allows me to be hands-free when I am out and about. If I need to walk away from a grocery cart, my purse is not left in the basket. I have heard too many stories about women that have walked away from their shopping cart to only discover when they return that their purse is missing or that their wallet is missing when they try to check out.
When I am pumping fuel, my doors are locked. I have the keys and my credit card on my person. Everything else is locked up so that someone cannot enter my vehicle or open the door and take my purse.
Yes, I drive a truck. A very big truck. This makes me way less of a target. Very few bad guys are going to think that my truck belongs to a woman. Now any woman that has a small car (Prius anyone?) with pink fufu stuff all over it, that screams, “I am owned by a woman”. That puts a huge target on you and your car, especially at night.
Ping!
