You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there. The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

This is one of those puzzles where you struggle at first, then you look down, and Shazam, you’ve solved the author then it’s off to the Indy 500.

Gotta admit that I struggled with it, just trying things, for about 10 minutes before it all started to come together.

A bit difficult at first, but then I guessed the eighth word and the rest became easy.

Bout 90 seconds. Last word of the sentence, couple of small words, the author's name.

Its all relative, though. You don't have to be a genius.

I suspect that this is one of the quotes by an author who like Yogi Berra can claim, “I never said most of the things I said.”

Yep. Futzed around with the two letter words, and then the author’s name appeared.

I guessed the second, that gave me a hit at the seventh, having gotten those two, the third was apparent, and after that is was as obvious as four dimensional tensor calculus.

I found this puzzle much easier than yesterday’s.

Trying to come up with a clue involving AOC and economics, but alas, it must be too early.

Author one who definitely isn’t bothered by barber shops being closed.

Of course, today one would pay to get styled like that

AOC, economics, intelligence have NO business in the same paragraph much less sentence.

Talk about an oxymoron for the ages, with emphasis on the moron.

A tribute to today’s education standards. She falls in the category of ‘Well she shows up every day and we need the seat for someone else etc etc’

I (mostly)went to Parochial school through 9th grade and was going to move to Public Skrewel and the Nun that was the Latin teacher said she would see to it that I didn’t ‘fail’ the class so long as I never took Latin II and/or told who my ‘teacher’ was for Latin I...(No problem....funny part was that the full year of Latin counted as my ‘foreign language’ for my entire HS ‘career’)

I was thinking there was a lot “DFQCFUUMI” in her case.

Hmmm, maybe that’s what I should have typed originally.

AOC must have DFQCFUUMI a lot about economics.
