French researchers are planning to test nicotine patches on coronavirus patients and frontline health workers after a study suggested smokers may be much less at risk of contracting the virus.
The study at a major Paris hospital suggests a substance in tobacco possibly nicotine may be stopping patients who smoke from catching Covid-19. Clinical trials of nicotine patches are awaiting the approval of the countrys health authorities.

“lovenox for hbp, which is a ACE inhibitor”
Lovenox is a low molecular weight type of heparin...prevents clots from forming...frequently given to treat clots, when you have a history of DVT’s, etc. Also given short term when hospitalized and bed-ridden, having orthopedic surgeries, abdominal surgeries, etc.
You may wan to verify with your MD why you are taking it. Good drug if needed but requires caution when combined with other drug, esp. NSAID’s.
Except you might get addicted to nicotine by using this cure.
It’s lisinopril. I was on lovenox a long time ago when I had a DVT. I got them mixed up.
LOL - the cure I was referring to was “set grandpa on fire”, not “grandpa, fire up a cig”.
Any benefit probably declines with smoking related lung maladies.
Peek?
Smokers or vapers?
Vaper’s are inhaling Propylene Glycol which is used to inactivate the flu virus for vaccines. There was also a 1942 study on mice that showed inhaling Propylene Glycol was protective against flu.
Prior to COVID there was studies that indicated that long term Smoking and Vaping made changes in the lungs that prediposed them to lung infections. Vaping has other chemicals than just PG.
LOL. Ta-may-toe ta-maw-toe
Hubby and I are heavy smokers. Rarely get sick..BUT something went through his work place and their families. We both got it. Docs tested a couple and said it wasn’t the flu. At that time there were no corona tests near by. If you are a smoker..you cough. I knew it would hit our lungs and we decided to cough until there was nothing left to cough. If we took a deep breath.. and there was a rattle..we coughed until there wasn’t. It took me 30+ days. In our experience as smokers..we do not go to doctors. If you’re a smoker..you probably know why.
> Smoke em if you got em!
I can already imagine the empty shelves at the corner store.
“Our cross-sectional study strongly suggests that those who smoke every day are much less likely to develop a symptomatic or severe infection with Sars-CoV-2 compared with the general population, the Pitié-Salpêtrière report authors wrote.
The effect is significant. It divides the risk by five for ambulatory patients and by four for those admitted to hospital. We rarely see this in medicine, it added.”
Holy cow! This is huge! And boy, are lib heads gonna splode.

I know the French and Italians are heavy smokers.
If I had to guess I would think the Chinese are as well.
My bet is that is one of the factors as to why a French university is studying the patches. It is just my guess though.
You mean like a funny cigarette? One of those left handed kinds?
They are. This chart is in French, but it's easy enough to flush out the meaning. In a nutshell, smokers are getting and dying from the 'Rona at a far less rate than would be expected in relation to the population of smokers.
Official French data on #tobacco smoking & #covid19 replicate the picture in China, Germany & USA: A remarkable low rate of smokers are hospitalised w/ coronavirus compared to smoking prevalence (France 23%).
Not sure if you can get a PDF translated, but this is the support doc from the French study:

From the CDC (this time in English):
Preliminary Estimates of the Prevalence of Selected Underlying Health Conditions Among Patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 United States, February 12March 28, 2020
The consistent low rate of #tobacco smokers among patients with #coronavirus in China is now duplicated in the U.S. by CDC: Among 7,162 corona patients with medical records 6,901 were never-smokers (96.3%), 165 ex-smokers (2.3%), and only 96 smokers (1.3%)
More on Chinese data here:
Smoking, vaping and hospitalization for COVID-19
Studies show consistently that #tobacco smokers are much less likely to be victims of #COVID19 hospitalization:
9.6% smokers hospitalized vs. 31.2% expected (<0.001), based on Chinese smoking prevalence, suggesting smoking may protect against coronavirus.
soda lol
In my condition one line of coke would be my last :)

One thought that I did not see fleshed out in the stats.
This is talking about those HOSPITALIZED.
There seems to be a number of people who never make it to the hosptial.
What would that breakdown be?
