The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youll be solving them all within a few days.
If youre stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram. I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hals Helper below. You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please dont put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Look at the endings of words.
4 minutes. Picked off a few short words and got the author.
Is there a mistake?
Oh no! I just mean that was my clue.
I look for that suffix before starting any CG. Next, I’ll look for the ABCA words, not saying it will always be THAT or ELSE, but it usually is. Then of course, the single letter words, contractions and if you’re still stumped you try to find “E”.
We’ve had a run of “eaasy’s”
Good hint. Had a meeting WFH this morning, so I am a little late reporting in here. Guessed TFF and then took a stab at the last four letters of DPGETCSWR, and it cracked right open.
I started with the ABB word right after the semi-colon, and managed to pick about with various suffixes until I found my way.

Best I could come up with today. Tough one for hints without total give away.
2 min. Get the first word after the semicolon (look at its last two letters) and then the endings of words 1 and 2. That opens up a repeated two-letter word.
Go from there.
I agree, and it’s one of those quotations that have more wisdom than many others that are plain out goofy.
