Posted on 04/22/2020 5:10:35 AM PDT by HypatiaTaught

Hello Freepers,

Just curious if anyone is experiencing the same issue as me.

April 15th, entered my Direct Deposit information and I get the following message for the past week with no update.

You are eligible for the payment. Once we have the payment date, we will update this page.

We will deposit the payment in the account below. Bank Account ********XXXX

Updates to your payment are made no more than once a day. We will mail you a letter with additional information on additional information.

I hear some people get this information initially then they get an actual date of mail out day.

My status has not changed. I just hope the 50 year old computer system didn't put my status in limbo somewhere.

Tell me about it. Filed already, they took the tax payment we owed in a flash, but still no Wuhanic Plague check. Interesting.

I registered my bank account for direct deposit within hours of the IRS opening its website. Their response is that my check will be mailed in a few days. That’s the government for you.

Right... I know.

Thank God, I really don’t need the money. I am not rich by any means, but when I hear stories of dead folks and teenagers in receipt of this money, my blood starts to percolate.

Where are you entering direct deposit information? Is there a web page? Our SS checks are direct deposited, so I assume we’ll see $2400? (that will promptly go to the grand kids)

I heard folks receiving SS checks do not have to do anything unless they have dependents they want to claim.

the IRS is trying to avoid scammers who try to steal other people’s money, so they want to use addresses and direct deposit information that has been in their system for a while. So they are going to mail a bunch of payments instead of relying on recently entered direct deposit information.

...

They’ve been using my bank account to receive payments from me for years.

Why bother letting people register if they aren’t going to use it?

Government is terrible at doing things right.

I understand that if you e-filed with Turbo Tax or H&R Block online there is a glich that is holding up these checks (that is my case).

If you are on SS and have not filed a tax return in the past two years you will likely not get your $1200 til the end of April.

Thanks for your reply.

I think their computers were swamped and we will mailed paper checks before the end of the year.

Sigh.

This makes sense.

I wish they would have stated as such...

I won’t give the IRS my banking information simply for the reason they could decide that I owed them money. Yes, it happens.

Went online to see the status of my check and it says UNDETERMINED.
