Flubros and Flubras! Day 32 (A place for Flubros and Flubras)

It’s just the flu, bro.

I was sent this comment from a fellow Flubro yesterday. Essentially the left is going crazy about current lockdown protests being CV spreading events. Well they also went crazy about the Wisconsin in person voting 2 weeks ago as a spreading event. Well 2 weeks is time for CV to theoretically spread and kill people. Yet there is no spike in CV deaths in Wisconsin. It is very dangerous for any country (especially the USA) to not permit protests for any reason.

https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/index.htm

In the last minute of Trump’s CV press conference yesterday he said the lockdown saved millions of lives. This is false. The left is full of it when they say test and trace was the way to go to contain this. So also false. Is Rush Limbaugh the only truth teller when it comes to CV?

CDC death rates show total US deaths have been at 5 year lows. In other words, CV is causing very few extra deaths and the published number is fake. Maybe 1/10 the reported number.

If the country was not locked down then more children would have developed immunity. This gets us closer to herd immunity which protects the lives of the vulnerable. You only want the vulnerable to social distance if you want to save lives in the long run.

No irony in my answers...but panic is in your questions.

And most important, will you vote for him and on what basis if you can't trust what he is saying during arguably the most important issue of our lifetime?

President Trump has been put on a pedestal so high we forget he's only human. He very well may have been hoodwinked right along with the rest of America but November is a long way off and I will decide at that time based on the COMPLETE record of both candidates. It would seem that panic is a common problem on more than one subject.

It's not Trump's problem but our problem and there are no bystanders.

In the words of the great Donald Rumsfeld, "this is one of the unknown, unknowns" or is it "one of the known, unknowns"?

It always p*ssed me off how the Leftist media got all over Rumsfeld's case about that. I knew exactly what he was talking about. We went through the entire exercise in freshman year logic class in college. Those journ-o-lists had to take it too.

1860 Redux

The Democrat Party are the new Plantation owners and the elected officers are the House Masters.
We are the uppity slaves that have been settled into the plantation by quarantine.
The Masters and Party are afraid of losing (the vote) of their slaves and the never-Trumpers are the porch “guard”.

Todays Conservatives are the new Northern federalists and abolitionists.
They understand that all citizens are equal and should NOT be divided by vote AND residency.

Throughout the last 155 years:
You are a RESIDENT of your State and a CITIZEN of the United States.
Citizens, and by extension all civil rights enumerated, are protected by the Constitution.
Regardless of any religiosity, those rights are yours by virtue of your existence as a human being on Earth.

To a degree the drop in highway deaths is offsetting.

My auto insurer just kicked me a rebate because we’re all driving so little.

Trump pushes the numbers you call fake every night.

Is he a liar or the biggest fool ever?

I believe he is being a combination of Machiavellian and a politician promoting his past actions.

Are you saying you believe the number - 45k?

So Trump’s policy’s are ACTUALLY costing us lives?

So again we come to your voting based on the value of lives.

How can you vote for someone whose actions will result in the taking of innocent lives?

Thanks for proving the accuracy of my first post. Your collective brains must be spinning these days .

Right now we have over 45,000 deaths being attributed to CV. If you were in charge, what would you have done different from Trump?

Mr. Trump obviously has great respect for human life. I have to admire him for that as it's one of the reasons I voted for him i.e. Pro Life.

They confronted him with Bozo the Modeler's work and obviously it had an impact on him. I wish he would have looked at it more analytically, but we are where we are. Personally I think he let himself be too deeply affected by this friend of his in New York who caught the bug and died.

If Obama had been POTUS he likely would have just let things ride, secure in the knowledge that the media would bury the body counts. It's pretty much what happened with H1N1.

I agree - fewer people are dying because they stay in their houses. But if CV death numbers were real we should see total deaths go up. 45k is greater than the number of auto deaths in a normal Feb/Mar/Apr.

There are a choice of two parties - the one that causes more abortion deaths and would also cause more deaths on this issue, is the Dems.

I certainly believe it’s a lot closed to that than 1/10 as you say.

I think you folks are doing what you claim Trump is doing. You made a stand and now, even in the face of a facts and even what the President who you otherwise praise says, you feel you must defend your original stand no matter how much you have to twist reality.

I also think that this issue of co-morbidities is huge.

There were a lot of people who most likely were going to die in 2020 at some point. It’s theoretically possible that COVID-19 merely took a lot of those deaths and compressed them to within a timeframe of a few weeks.

If true we’ll see a corresponding drop in the overall death rate later in the year.

I feel your nose may be a touch brown from being a yes man/woman to the current administration instead of trying to guide the administration with the truth.

With all the virus countermeasures to stop COVID-19, they didn't work on the flu, meaning they were never needed and didn't work on COVID-19 either. We destroyed our nation for nothing.

“Right now we have over 45,000 deaths being attributed to CV.”

Attributed through political lying, but not through science. The left knew that gullible people would repeat their lie.

“Got hit by a car?? Call it COVID!”

Trump made his decision and now he pretty much has to ride it out. He can’t backtrack and say he made a mistake without looking like a complete idiot. He’s deftly structured this to distribute the political blame amongst the governors. It’s the best he can do at this point.

Precisely. The deep state, including the media, more or less conspired to turn this into a major pandemic, the public, by and large, believed it, the initial "model(s)" supported it with pseudo-science and guesswork, and the President found himself between a rock and a hard place.

The virus is real, but it is turning out to be on about equal ground to a very bad flu season. Alas, hindsight is 20/20 (except for the left, who will not see regardless), and we've wound ourselves up into a bad recession to "flatten the curve". The curve is flattened, there's no control groups within the US (no A/B comparisons) to show what exactly would have happened had there been no lockdown, but it's become quite clear that the original models were lies.

I'm probably going to remove the bugout bag from my truck, as the sequester threat at work has just about ended (yes, they were going to sequester us in 2 week intervals, with sleeping bags, cots, and a large freezer full of prepared microwave meals - we're essential).

It's time to unwind the lockdown, to get people back to work and get the economy started. And the sooner, the better. I think that the route they're taking is very cautious, and although I'd like to see things just start right up, I can understand the caution here for both medical and political reasons.
