On Oct. 5, 1962, Eon Productions released a project called Dr. Noa spy flick that screened the very first depiction of James Bond on screen. Starring Sean Connery as the British secret agent, the box office smash would go on to gross $59.6 million worldwide and $16.1 million domesticallywhich amounts to a whopping $215.1 million after inflation.
Thus, the 007 series was born. And the success of that original film has continued through 2020, as last weekend was scheduled to premiere the 27th installment of the franchise with No Time to Die.

I don't think teenagers today are too interested in Bond series...They are more interested in Marvel and Star Wars...
I was interested in U.S. box office numbers adjusted for inflation...The author also had box office numbers which were NOT adjusted for inflation...

Most popular 007 film with American audience was THUNDERBALL...
Least popular 007 film with American audience was LICENCE TO KILL...
I think LICENCE TO KILL was a fine 007 movie...
I also thought that THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS was a fine 007 movie...Gibraltar scene was very good...
I had no problem with Timothy Dalton...But, he was not very popular with US audience...
Skyfall
I loved “Licence to Kill.” It was like a “Miami Vice”-themed movie. Robert Davi was good as the villain. Timothy Dalton was great as Bond (the last Bond I really liked).
Sean Connery was the greatest of course. But the music score was iconic. Goldfinger was my favorite.
I liked the camp of the Roger Moore Bond movies.
I loved Licence to Kill. It was like a Miami Vice-themed movie. Robert Davi was good as the villain.

Yes, the movie did remind you of MIAMI VICE...I did like MIAMI VICE.
I do like THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS better than LICENCE TO KILL...
The locations were great...Bond goes from Gibraltar to Czechoslovakia to Afghanistan...The battle with Whitaker is in Tangiers...
Maybe LICENCE TO KILL reminded people too much of MIAMI VICE? That is why it was not very popular in United States?
I do remember watching a movie critic talking about LTK on my local TV station...His name was David Sheehan...He complained that LTK was too violent...
Best “camp” was in Diamonds.
After that a tt was forced.
These are my top 3:
1. Goldfinger (w/ Shirley Bassey singing the theme)
2. You only Live Twice (Nancy Sinatra)
3. Diamonds are Forever (Shirley Bassey) Jill St John was the amazingly luscious Bond Girl.
Curiously, I ended up missing seeing Licence to Kill in the theater. I can’t remember why I did. Saw every film in the theater from “For Your Eyes Only” through to “GoldenEye”, all except for LTK. I didn’t see any after GE because the theaters became so unbearably loud, it was no longer a pleasant experience.
He is an outspoken political conservative, often speaking at Republican Party gatherings. He has been invited to comment on numerous political shows and backed John McCain during his presidential campaign. He narrated several film montages that aired during the 2008 Republican National Convention.
Davi has spoken at numerous Conservative Political Action Conferences in Washington, D.C. He was a frequent guest on Fox News's late-night satire program Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld.
Davi endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
Sean Connery was probably the greatest, though some of the early Bond films will put you to sleep.
Keep up on your James Bond posts. Love them and Lord knows we need some Covid distraction.
Good stuff - thanks for the post. Welcome distraction.
I’m in the Goldfinger is #1 camp.
Wheres Dr No?
It's there. No. 20 on the list.
It’s Craw, not Craw!(get smart tv fans would get the joke)
video sales should also be part of the receipts.
and is this strictly original theatrical run or re-release as well??
Anyone who receives a financial return on production investment looks at all of the revenue streams.
Channel 7 on Pluto TV has been nothing but Bond films for sometime now. (Pluto TV is a free streaming service)
Thunderball my favorite, too. Sean Connery and the optimum mix of body count, dollies, and high tech gadgets. Plus the best theme song, sung by Tom Jones (sorry, Shirley).
I liked Live and Let Die.
