That they use these graphs pisses me off to no end, but no, they’re only counting cases which have been reported, evaluated, and published, a process which takes up to several days.
But they’re changing the calculations to include “probable” coronavirus related deaths. Gotta’ inflate those numbers!!

Looking at this, now that they are posting presumptive or suspected cases, this will add a 50% modifier. It is now clear that this is poitics driving this instead of science as the numbers are collapsing and would require opening of all states.
And they want folks to wait to be tested and treated after their moderate symptoms turn critical and they then have to proceed directly to ICU and get their ventilator going.
Kudos to NYC Health for reporting “Deaths by Sex” and not by “Gender” and only providing male and female.

In pretty much every country, the virus takes weekends off and drops off in response to lockdowns. Various countries, including Singapore, South Korea and Japan, have discovered that the lifting of lockdowns coincides with spikes in case loads. Obviously people need to go back to work or face famine. But keeping the economy going will need to be balanced with keeping pandemic deaths down via preventing ER’s from getting overloaded. In fact, it is likely that some hospitals will be designated special purpose virus treatment centers whose budget shortfalls are covered by the government (given that ER’s tend to be unprofitable), whereas elective surgeries will be shunted off to all other facilities.
Never mind that. DeBlasio still wants billions in federal aid for New York City.
Thesa death numbers don’t tie into the Worldometer numbers I’ve been tracking. They’re much lower. While NY is starting to decline in deaths per day and total deaths, the state leads the world in the rate of deaths per million population. The state is at 900 and the city is over a 1000. No city or country is anywhere close with Italy and Spain at 400 or so.
They have a long way to go. If it weren’t for NYC and close in NJ counties, the US would be like Canada or Germany in the 40-50 range in deaths per million.
It’s a good trend but still a problem if for no other reason that it gives Cuomo undeserved celebrity status. If Trump were NY governor he would be constantly berated for being a world leader in death rate.
Our county case numbers down here in Alabama seem to have about leveled off. The distancing probably kept it at bay. Onward and upward.
