One of the side effects of fighting the coronavirus pandemic has been the effort of some politicians to take power and run amok.
Lord Acton was right when he said: Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The problem isnt leaders taking money, but rather them losing all connection to reality and beginning to believe that they have a god-like capacity to make brilliant decisions for the stupid masses.
We are witnessing this effect to a troubling degree amid the coronavirus especially among the political left, where there is a pattern of people in positions of authority believing they are superior, both intellectually and morally, to the people they are supposed to serve.
In fact, we're in a three-front campaign.
One front is to defeat the virus both now and this fall, if it comes back.
The second front is to get the economy growing again.
And the third front is to restore the rule of the law, the Constitution and personal liberty where they have been lost. We need to be prepared to take back our personal freedom and political rights as the coronavirus recedes.

I would move the first front back to the third front. NOTHING is more important than our liberties.
And these people are called Democrats, the Party that loves big government and central control.
The corrupting influence of power is directly proportional to its magnitude.
Some people are more corruptible than others, but most, perhaps all people are corruptible by power of sufficient magnitude.
It's an old, old, old story.
This is why the benevolent and wise demand that government be kept as small as possible, so that it can be controlled by those governed.
This is the greatest fallacy of the theories of Karl Marx, why they don't work, why all attempts to implement them result in disaster. The wise and benevolent can see at a glance that they won't work and why. The corrupt, malevolent, and unwise see in them opportunities to acquire power and eagerly exploit them when they can.
Government is a necessary evil, necessary of course, but also evil. It enforces its authority through violence or threat of violence, and it attracts to its ranks those least capable of resisting the corrupting influence of power.
Imagine the kind of people attracted like a magnet to the magnitude of power concentrated in a place like Washington! Is it inevitable that they will be or will readily become corrupted?
Imagine the excesses of savagery that those excessively corrupted would commit! If you can't, consult history; it records countless examples of the worst.
Agreed! However, remember that every leftist (and quite a few are Republicans and fake conservatives) are either latent tinhorn tyrants or latent slaves.
central control.
Unfortunately both parties love big govt and central control.
Cuomo comes to mind as he claims credit for “flattening the curve”, when NY has the worst death to population numbers in the worldometer charts. The state is approaching 1000 deaths per million and that’s double Italy and Spain. If he had done nothing would it have been worse?

I'm in a town of 45,000, 4 cases a month ago....and no new cases.
Not god-like, but Hitler-like.
Dictators. Making up rules as they go simply because they said, “State of Emergency”.
I didn’t know our constitutions were only so long as the governor and president didn’t say “State of Emergency”.
My NY county has about 90,000 people. We have 53 cases, 0 deaths. There have been no reported cases in my town that I have been able to find in the data.
Wrecking the economy has become job one for the Democrats. By doing so, they see a chance to destroy Trumps greatest achievement and defeat his re-election. Placing the good of America ahead of politics has never even been a consideration.
In states where the governors are defying the U.S. Constitution/Bill of Rights, who has authority to rein them in and countermand over-reaching EOs? Can the US AG, or do the citizens have to rise up?
Washington summed it up best when he compared government to fire, a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
New York State is like NJ where I live. The outlying towns and counties have caes and deaths like the rest of the US; which is not at “pandemic” levels. Monroe County NY or Rochester is an example. NYC and the close to the city NJ counties should not be dictating state releases from the lockdowns. It should be done by county and town.
But Cuomo and Murphy love their master of lockdown ceremonies roles and won’t give them up.
