It will be only a matter of weeks now, and an idea of how many cruise lines will restart and how full the ships are will be known.

The Cruise lines have to worry about our press making a big deal out of every Norovirus episode that occurs.
If Coronavirus occurs it will certainly be reported.

If my wife and my health stand up, I hope to be onboard in October. -Tom

Personally, cruising is not my thing, and I wouldn’t do it... and they will obviously lose a lot of people in the near term. BUT if the cruise companies shoot enough specials and 2-for-1 deals, a lot of their customers will bite. Much of their clientele are older retirees with a devil-may-care “I’m 80 years old without a lot of time left, so why the hell not?” attitude. And there’s something to be said for that.

We will be following you shortly thereafter. The Cruise lines just need to demonstrate some additional precautions and make them known most people will come back. A lot of people love cruising and just need to know steps have been to make it safe and they will return.

I told my wife years ago that if she wanted to go on a cruise I would fly to wherever it was going and meet here there. I get claustrophobia around crowds of people.

I now feel flying is not a desirable experience. Remember the days when you had plenty of room. Drinks were free and stewardesses were friendly and cute.

With the 5 minute tests before boarding and a cabinet full of the malaria cocktail and a couple extra docs on board....eezy peezy.

“But will passengers come back?”

Make the price right and we will. Once this damn thing is over I look forward to booking a trip at a very reduced price as they try to get customers back. If the price is right I might book a suite. I have never done this in the past due to cost.

Passengers will only come back after a near-perfect vaccine.

90% off fares won’t hurt either.

Scheduled to leave end of May from Boston to Bermuda. If state still isn’t shut down( not expecting it to be, MA isn’t NY but a still a hot spot) I’m willing to go. GF is on the fence, I’m pretty sure she’ll fold and we’ll end up rescheduling

People have short memories.

Viruses have a lifecycle and peter out through natural processes (despite Anthony Fauci pretending he does not know this).

Life quickly got back to normal after the 1917 pandemic.

I just saw webcams of Florida beaches and there seemed to be cruise ships on the water.

Two things bother me:
It isn’t known what percent of COVID-19 carriers are asymptomatic. It’s estimated to be from 25% to 50%. So doing temperature checks is probably so much security theater.

When passengers on cruise ships had the misfortune to become infected, no ports wanted to let them disembark. They became so many Flying Dutchmen. It brought home to me how helpless you make yourself when you board a cruise ship.

I don’t know what is within the power of the cruise lines to do to make me confident in their safety.
