The court in the city of Yekaterinburg refused to punish the two men held by the police for the violation of self-isolation order.
Two men were spotted by the patrol on Saturday evening walking on the VIZ Boulevard. The police decided the men were violating the self-isolation regime, concluded reports and submitted them to the court.
According to the press service for the Supreme Court of Sverdlovsk Oblast at 16 hours 20 minutes on April 11, 2020 on VIZ Boulevard ward #10 of the Vekh-Ysetsk district two men were held by the police for the presence in the street in violation of the governor's decree. The men stated to the police that they are not loitering but acting out of necessity leaving home for a store to buy beer and snacks.
The police weren't satisfied with the explanation. The interior ministry pressed charges of the violation of the ukaze of the state governor for the profilactic of the coronavirus infection.
The judge examined the case and agreed with the defendants dismissing the charges of the beer lovers for the lack of evil intent.
According to the court the ruling is not in force yet and might be appealed.
According to the regional HQ for coronavirus prevention there are 117 cases of Covid-19 infection in Sverdlovsk region for now.
