Brave New World is an adaptation of the classic Aldous Huxley novel and will broadcast on NBC's streaming service, Peacock which launched in the US this week.

The dystopian story is centred around the futuristic New London where people are sorted into an intelligence based hierachy. Demi, 57, plays Linda who moved from New London to an outlying reservation with her son John. Peace has been achieved in the seemingly utopian New London thanks to prohibiting monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. Other cast members include Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), and The Originals' Joseph Morgan.

At the rate we’re going, the public schools in a couple of decades will have mandatory sex ed classes that will require hands-on instruction in technique covering all permutations of all 57 genders. It will be like drivers ed. Students won’t graduate without having demonstrated proficiency with multiple partners.

The primary character was a man who was supposed to be born an Alpha but something went wrong and he was born an Epsilon if my memory serves me. We read this book in my Junior year in HS.

I clicked on this thread to post exactly that. The 24 hour news cycle, social media, smart phones, the almost ubiquitous screen entertainment tracks pretty closely with soma. Seems like we are waaay closer to BNW than 1984. If decent virtual reality ever comes along a large % of the population is going to simply bow out of society permanently.

The book is wonderful. Reads like it was written now, doesn’t show its age. It was written in 1932. A visionary (if dystopian) work.

There have been attempts to translated it into film, but the ones I’ve seen fell flat.

Hope they don’t destroy the book and leave the wilderness or whatever they call the area outside of the new society as the book had it.

Have a hard time believing Demi Moore will allow herself to look like a savage.

If he was born an epsilon he’d be Joe Biden! The lead character is Bernard Marx born a high caste Alpha (but not a Alpha+!). He is shorter in stature than the average member of his high caste, which gives him an inferiority complex. Its an excellent read and as others have pointed out a much more prophetic dystopian novel for our time.

I have a hard believing time Demi Moore will play such a relatively minor character - Linda. This leads me to expect it will be completely unrecognizable from the Huxley novel. Probably re-written so she’s the heroine & will have plenty of opportunity to kick six foot 260 pound male ass.

My money says it will be unwatchable!

There are too many liberals who look at “Brave New World” as a how-to manual, not a warning.

It is. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley was one of my favorite college readings in Western Civ, a class which has by now probably been banned and replaced by lesbian fisting or social justice as an elective.

I remember the book portraying everyone being soulless vessels, sedated on government drugs and having sex with randos.

I am guessinng the same as you. Of theu tell the story “from Linda’s point of view” it will be more in line with today’s Hollywood.....women leads doing masculine things and the men are all stupid doofuses

However.....of they would just do the novle as is.. it could be a great series. One thing about the content on the new streaming services is they have been doing fantastic character development which anyone trying to do this novel would really accomplish.

To paraphrase Jonathan Haidt’s research on the psychology of morality, liberals only use TWO moral channels: perceived fairness and care/harm.

In contrast, conservatives use those factors plus in-group loyalty, respect for authority, and sanctity/purity. To liberals, respect for authority is oppressive, in-group loyalty is unfairly exclusive, and valuing chastity and monogamy is unfairly exclusive, too. Ironically, the modern liberals make fun of incels, men who can’t have sex, and mock them for their anger and frustration, when the 1960s libertines at least recognized “make love, not war” defused a lot of that negative emotion.

SJWs have the first two “liberal” channels plus sanctity purity. The difference is that they tend to apply it to food instead of sex, and they hated the infidel who threatens their safety/comfort.

“Brave New World” takes this radical egalitarianism to an extreme. You’re made to fit a certain class and equally interchangeable with anyone in it. And people are themselves a commodity, hence ensuring everyone is youthful and healthy until they’re dead and thus an equally attractive sex partner.

Prohibiting family and privacy prevents unfair exclusion.
