What happened to Youtube?
Youtube ^ | April 16, 2020 | Just me

What the h&ll is going on with Youtube?

The site once provided great videos with simple navigation, deletable ads, and easy access to related content.

No more. Youtube has changed its layout--for the worse.

Now videos are plastered with ads and other garbage, which cover up half the screen and prevent people from seeing the full picture.

I can no longer find the simple navigation tools that once enabled me to skip ads, go to full screen or downsize the video, turn up the volume, or find related content, that was once so readily available.

What's going on? Why are they changing--ruining--something that once worked so well?

Can anyone provide insights into what Youtube is doing with its display format? It is not good.

YouTube was gobbled up by Goolag, and Goolag is evil.

But as YT is too good a reference source to do without, I pay the Goolag bastards $14/month for the no ads premium version :-\

It's not just the ads, which I agree, can be very annoying.

Videos are not displaying correctly on the screen, like they used to. Parts of the videos are being cut off at the top, bottom and sides. "Minimizing" doesn't help, and navigation buttons have disappeared off the main screen.

It wasn't broke, so why did they "fix" it in this way?

Are they purposely making it difficult for users, so they can get us to pay more?

For most of the videos I watch, once you either sit through the non-skip ads or skip the ads and click off the banner ads, you can usually watch at least that video or maybe more related ones without seeing ads for a while. The bottom right corner has the various screen mode icons.

I miss not having to sign in just to click like/dislike.

15 Apr: Washington Times: Anthony Fauci has a mad scientist vision to track, surveil American citizens
By Cheryl K. Chumley
Anthony Fauci, the medical expert who has President Donald Trump’s ear on coronavirus, wants to implement a “contact tracing” program in America that will in effect set the stage for government to surveil its citizens.
Only he describes it in such a kindly caring gentlemanly manner that it’s not supposed to be noticed as intrusive and unAmerican and unconstitutional.

“The keys,” Fauci recently said, of opening America to business and activity and travel, Business Insider reported, “are to make sure that we have in place the things that were not in place in January, that we have the capability of mobilizing identification — testing — identification, isolation, contact tracing. There will be cases [of coronavirus]. We’ve got to be able to act on them in a very deliberate way that doesn’t allow us to get into the situation we find ourselves right now.”

What he’s calling for there is the use of technology to tell who’s been vaccinated against coronavirus, who’s not, and how, where and when those two groups of people cross paths...
“The minimum thing is that you’ve got to be able to identify, isolate, get out of circulation, and do adequate and appropriate contact tracing as new cases arise,” he said on NBC “Today.”
Think about that people...

Fauci, the face of the Decade of Vaccines Collaboration announced by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation back in 2010 — a member of the Leadership Council of this very Gates Foundation-tied Decade of Vaccines program — is using his White House platform and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director position to not only push for widespread, national, even global administration of a coronavirus vaccine, but also for the government authority to track citizens. To surveil citizens...
He’s a mad scientist with a White House voice.
He’s a globalist, prying open America’s borders and sovereign system of governance wide — with fear...

This is the modus operandi: If we don’t do this testing, if we don’t do this tracing, if we don’t do this surveillance and technology-based tracking of citizens — if we don’t give government the power to do all that, then people will die. People will get sick. The virus will spread. And people will die, die, die.
We can’t “ever let it get out of hand again,” Fauci said, of coronavirus.
Oh. Umm. Was it ever that “out of hand” to begin with? Shhh.

Seriously.
All the predictions of deaths have been wildly wrong because the computer modeling has been wildly flawed. All the case counts and reporting of confirmed cases have been wildly off-mark, ever-chainging. All the numbers have been best-guesses, best opinions, best projections, best case scenarios — light on fact, in other words.
For that, Americans are supposed to accept “contact tracing” — i.e., government surveillance?
Shut this idea down, and shut it down now, America...

Who made Fauci — who made the federal health agents — who made the globalists who stand to gain in power and pocketbook from the vaccine industry they’re actively growing — who made these bureaucrats the gate-guards of vaccines? Who gives them the right?...

The volume control, the click to full screen, are in the bar at the bottom of the video. ‘Similar’ content is now triggered by your search habits, or subscriptions. A woman now runs youtube, with ‘progressive’ tilts. You cannot attach your ‘vr’ to the video anymore.

Those videos appear in the same awful "new" format on my computer. It is very frustrating.

Maybe I'm one of the unlucky/random users who has been selected to be a guinea pig for this new format.

I think they're experimenting / testing it out on us. Most people hate new format.

The volume control, the click to full screen, are in the bar at the bottom of the video.

These functions are hidden from me on my computer.

Everything is oversized for my screen, so none of that is visible. The videos themselves are cut off at the top, bottom and sides. Minimizing the screen doesn't help. Scrolling down or to the side to find hidden navigation tools is annoying.

Are you sure it wasn’t a ‘Windows Update’ that screwed up your puter?

Mine is exactly the same as it always was.

Haha! Remember back in the days of cable’s infancy? Part of the “advantage” of paid television was there would be no advertising....

That didn’t last either.
