What the h&ll is going on with Youtube?
The site once provided great videos with simple navigation, deletable ads, and easy access to related content.
No more. Youtube has changed its layout--for the worse.
Now videos are plastered with ads and other garbage, which cover up half the screen and prevent people from seeing the full picture.
I can no longer find the simple navigation tools that once enabled me to skip ads, go to full screen or downsize the video, turn up the volume, or find related content, that was once so readily available.
What's going on? Why are they changing--ruining--something that once worked so well?
Can anyone provide insights into what Youtube is doing with its display format? It is not good.

Maybe there is something wrong with the way Youtube is interacting with my laptop. I have no idea, and they provide no clues whatsoever as to how to fix the problem.
Whats the frequency?
Subscribe to Youtube premium. That should fix everything.

$$$$
they are trying to drive people to a pay to view model.
and content creators don’t get that popup/banner money
Uploading a 1 hour video yesterday took 12 hours.

these ads sometimes fund content creators.
depends if someone has made a copyright claim against the video (some of which are fraudulent claims).
It's happening all the time now.
Started just a few days ago.
I made a video today riding to a lake but then I got home and thought oh no now I have to upload it... Aaaa!
you forgot the /s tag
What are the alternatives to you tube?
I’ve noticed all the ads, too. They are very annoying.
you mostly seem to be concerned about technical issues so I guess you don’t care about it but Youtube has changed far more on the content arena. They pretty much delete all the interesting videos pretty quickly nowadays. It isn’t even limited to politics anymore. I guess if all you want is tv 2.0 its fine but all the good nonsupermainstream stuff is elsewhere now. I wouldn’t recommend anyone continue supporting them.
YouTube going way of the dodo bird and deservedly so.
I get Tucker Carlson and Laurah Ingraham every day using a video downloader. I never see commercials.
Try this ... download the Brave browser to your PC. Then go into it’s settings and turn on all the Ad Blockers (it is easy).
Then when you watch Youtube videos there will be no ads.
I’ve been using Brave for almost 2 years and it is great.
short term patronize videos at the source. Support smaller less censorious outfits like Bitchute etc. Their content is way lower but with support they can grow. You can still use Youtube to fill in the blanks but do your best to avoid supporting them. Longer term, p2p distributed video services uncontrolled by governments or corps.
Google bought YouTube in 2006 and has been gradually monetizing it ever since. Over the past couple of years, they have increased the number of ads in many (if not all) videos and offer a way to avoid ads through a subscription service. It’s similar to the model many phone apps use. On phones it is common for app developers to offer a free version with ads and a ‘pro’ version without ads but with a subscription. In my opinion, Google has gone way overboard with ads on YouTube.
What’s going on?
They want you to pay for premium Youtube. That’s been their goal since day 1. This is just their end game.
Got Ghostery? d;^)
One word: GOOGLE
No problem.
Usually, there's an ad at the beginning of the video, but after a few seconds it'll say 'skip ad'.
Might want to check your settings.
