“Avocados are toxic to dogs, cats and birds.”

None of these species are listed on the ASPCA avocado toxicity list.

The pit coating can be toxic if enough is eaten, but not many animals want to eat an avocado pit.

I tried to live in peace with the neighborhood squirrels (those big red-brown suckers the size of small house cats), but they were not content to raid my oak and pecan trees. Once the house began to take damage, I was forced to defend myself...

Damned if I'm going to let those tree rats get into the wiring and burn my house down with me in it. So, the "Three S" rule was followed.

Pet birds yes, dogs and cats only if they ingest too much, though the seed may present bigger danger

A buddy of mine from High School used to shoot them with a bb gun from his bedroom window.

Multiple times??

OMG! Another mass shooting in high school!

Yup.. They used to warn about the fruit of the avacado.. Then they said only the skin was toxic.. Now they say it’s only the pit that is dangerous.

I agree. But he lived in town, so bb gun ok, 30-06 not ok.

Our locals don’t get after our house, but if they did, I have a Havahart trap and a pellet gun. I am inside city limits so no firearms.

I was told that avocado makes a great rattrap bait.
