Here in Florida (Tampa, Hillsboro county), a grocery chain is giving front-line people (first responders) free groceries.
Those are the people that still have jobs and are less needy than those stuck at home without jobs.
Not all LEO’s are crooked or power mad. Im personal friends with a retired state police captain. Knew him while he went thru the ranks. One of the most decent human beings I ever met... Now his brother.... He drew his gun on a jay walker who slapped the hood of his car because the deputy almost hit him because he wasn’t looking and stepped out in front of the car.. all this in heavy traffic at an almost stand still. nobody was moving but the guy flipped out on a civilian for slapping his car. ..
So preferential treatment of seniors is okay, but not first responders?
It’s been my experience that smart business owners get to know LEO because that’s who they call to remove the shoplifters and trouble makers from their premises.
Maybe they hope they will show up when the looting starts.
If they want to do something good, give groceries to people who lost their jobs.
It is disgusting that cops get first at Sams club. The crime rate is down 50%, traffic is non existent. The cops have nothing to do so they can shop ahead of house bound citizens? These dirtbags should be fired.
Ya know, if they will not ask for ID (and they won’t) at the voting booth and you are wearing a face mask they can’t tell who you are. This is custom made for voter fraud.
No. For one thing I’ve been on 12 hour days, 7 days a week, plus nightly call without a break now since mid March and I am tired. Yes we still have jobs, still making far less than we could in other non-public positions, and yes, the paycheck will be nice when it comes, but it will not replace the lost time with my kids. That plus consider that we are probably more infectious than most. We get exposed and many may likely have this virus asymptomatic. Do you really want to intermingle with us? I am promised some time off after next week and I want to hit Costco.
I have three women in my family who are nurses and first responders. Two of them are front-line isolation nurses who work directly with COVID and other highly infectious disease patients. One of these nurses is my daughter. She has been working 12-1/2 hours a day, 7 days/week for over a month now. She and the police first responders are working their a$$es off right now to make sure you, your relatives, or someone you know doesn’t die. So yeah, when she goes to Walmart, she goes to the front of the line with a standing ovation from the other customers.
With all due respect rey, I know some law enforcement officers. They dont have time for themselves or their families. Give them a break.
My son in law ran into a burning building last night. He went through the second floor making sure he got everyone out.
Me? I watched a movie.
I think he serves something a little extra. My daughters house smells like smoke after he came home.
Police are there to treat the citizens as criminals because the politicians have passed so many laws that we are all now guilty of something. I personally have no use for cops. Define first responders. Around here EMTs make almost nothing but cops make good money. Firefighters range from volunteers to entrenched city workers.
I still personally hate cops. Even my law abiding 75+ year old mother thinks cops are just out to harass the citizens for $$$$$. She hasnt broken the law on purpose ever. Yet she will turn away from the police because she cant afford some made up revenue shakedown for 150-300 dollars.
I can shoot a robber but cant shoot a badged extortionists. Cops no longer protect and serve. Tax and grab and look out for their own.
Folks like you are the worst amongst us.
I’ve put in extra hours, as a LEO, without re-imbursment to make sure you can still get food in the stores. My wife is a NICU nurse, and we haven’t been able to see eachother in nearly a month to keep quarantine and patients and co-workers safe and on the job. I put my life on the line on a regular basis.
We don’t get paid more for that (actually less). We do that because we’re hard wired to help others.
I haven’t, but if my wife or I needed to grab something after a 12 hour shift, before another 12 hour shift, you think some illegal alien or welfare recipent that we totally funded should make us wait?
There’s nothing lower than a person who relies on other people for their care and protection and then dis-regards the price they pay to serve you.
Disgusting.
Customers also get the most potentially infectious people out of there quickly since the offer is likely for those in uniform (going to work or returning home).
This is similar to weekday or early morning discounts for seniors that have been offered for years: The discounts are not for them; they're for everyone else who won't have to deal with them blocking the aisles and browsing through everything when the store is busiest.
It's also like two-for-one movie night on Tuesdays. It channels the unruliest crowds to the slowest night and away from the Friday and Saturday date nights.
