That article is absolutely terrifying.
If it wasn’t made by the Chinese, my next guess is that it was made by space aliens.
Just joking... I think.
Last night was the strangest drive home (from “Mom care”, 70+ miles away.)
Now, this was at ~ 11 pm, through 90%+ rural areas, in the Mid-South. One expects to see some animals, some trips very few, other trips, more. But, this was nuts! I saw deer near or on the road @ at least 9 different locations. 3(?) single, 4 groups of 3-5, 1 group of 6 (hard to say, might have been 7), and one group of at least a dozen (I’ve NEVER seen a group / herd that large at night.) It wasn’t just deer, either. I missed all those suckers but despite driving cautiously because of all the deer, I ko’d a good size raccoon (I’d say 15+ lbs.), a ‘possum, saw several more raccoons and ‘possums, and ran over another something (had to be a big one if it was an opossum) while my attention was diverted by a deer right on the shoulder of the road about 200’ ahead, I’d guess. I’ve driven this route over 30 years - probably averaging about 1 night trip a week, and this was definitely over 2x the deer I’ve ever seen on any of those trips, and I’d say 3 or 4 more of the ‘coons and ‘possums than I’ve ever seen in 1 trip.
There has not been serious flooding, fires, unusual weather, etc. What caused all the animals to be on or by the road last night I just don’t know... Hopefully the New Madrid Fault isn’t prepping to let go in a 1811-12 way.
I suppose this means there is lots of protein out there.
While I don't have a problem with Texas getting back to business, they are not even in the top 10 states for lowest deaths per capita, and not in the top 50 countries. But they are certainly NOT New York. Maybe he was misquoted.
I don't doubt that Abbott an come up with a sensible plan. The question is whether the populace will follow it.
Here's some shopping news that he just posted...
Starting Sunday, April 19, @SamsClub will implement Hero Hours, expanding its associate hours to include first responders and health care workers. Hero Hours will run every Sunday from 8AM to 10AM at all stores nationwide. Membership not required. https://t.co/nhkZk68rdx— Dan Patrick (@DanPatrick) April 18, 2020

Well, without commenting here on what the source of COVID-19 is, there are plenty of really ghastly ways to depart this earth by disease. Bubonic plague, Ebola, necrotic bacteria, etc.
Then there are the man-devised horrors. I made the mistake of reading a page on medieval torture while doing some history research several days ago. Ye Gods! Some of that stuff makes ISIS look like the Humane Society. At least if one is dying of CV, the Dr.’s can alleviate the agony somewhat, instead of maximizing it.
I’m getting messages on multiple computers that FR is insecure. What the heck?

Certificate issue.
Explanation from The Boss at above link.
Then there’s no reason you or I couldn’t pay a 25% National Security Tax (tariff) on Chinese products going into the future. China is an enemy of the USA and needs to be dealt with somehow.
Unfortunately, some of those devices and methods are still employed today by various extremely unfriendly governments or other organizations.
Thank you FRiend
I have a crew that mows my lawn, but I stay away from them and mostly stay inside during that time.
People are behaving in my town. I made a short run to the grocery store to get a few remaining things, after trying and failing three times to make an ad hoc mask.* Most other people there were masked up. I cleaned surfaces at home and showered after unloading the groceries.
Fortunately, I’m not going back for over a week, and plan to order rubber bands and handkerchiefs to make ready-masks in case the actual masks that I ordered don’t arrive in time.
Just saw this...

They were expecting everyone to abide by stay at home orders.
