I logged on to this IRS portal this morning. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
After entering all my info it said you are eligible to receive the stimulus check, but we don't have your bank information! How is that possible when I get my social security via direct deposit to my bank account every month?
So I entered my bank information and then the portal said we will deposit the stimulus check to that account! (which is the same account as my SS deposit account).
Steve Manuchin said that SS people DO NOT have to fill out the form they changed it so form did NOT have to be filled out!!
How long did it take from the time you entered the IRS data and submitted, till the money was deposited into your direct deposit? Thanx in advance. DM
They already HAVE my bank info in 2 different ways.
1. my SS direct deposit every month
2. I pay taxes owed every year directly through my bank account.
So why did the portal say IRS does not have my bank info?
I checked on Monday, Tuesday, and Today. No deposits!
Well, I don’t know what happened, but for some reason, I got misdirected to a site that wasn’t IRS but didn’t realize it until after I had filled out the info. Now someone has all my information...ALL of it.
Scam possible. Send us your account info- get money.

Always check the web address ends with .GOV
Thanks for your post! I went to the IRS portal that you mentioned. They did not have my bank account information although I get my Social Security payments by direct deposit and I received my 2018 federal tax refund by direct deposit. I have a small balance due on 2019 federal tax and my 2019 federal tax return. I got the same message that you received, they claimed that they do not have my bank information. I jumped through the hoops and entered my bank information again. I was hoping to have the $1,200 stimulus by now.
If not for your post I would be waiting weeks for the check in the mail.
I am in the same boat. I had to file in 2018 but did not have to file for 2019 but I did anyway. Did not get a refund or owe on 2018 or 2019, so no direct deposit info on either one.
I have SSI and VA Disability direct deposited every month. When I went to the IRS site, it said I qualified but they did not have enough info for direct deposit so go to next page and fill out tax/bank account info. I tried to enter the info, even though I should not have to, it kept giving me website errors, and after a few attempts, locked me out for 24 hours.
If the systems are talking to each other, they should have enough info to direct deposit the payment, without this extra step.
How long before a hacker gets into those account records & starts a whole new problem?
5—4—3—2-
I never get a refund. They said SS didn’t have to file a tax return to get the money.
Maybe they will get the info from SS, for another round of remittances.
> As often as I get my neighbors mail, and my neighbors get my mail, I do not trust the post office for anything important.
Vote by mail! Save democracy! Or something like that. /s
If a hacker hacks into my Social Security account, there is no money there that belongs to me.
If the Hacker gets into my checking account, the bank reimburses all fraudulent charges or checks.
I am actually trying hard to ruin my credit score so that hackers won’t bother opening new credit cards in my name.
In your and my case, might be better to wait until the day of your regular deposit schedule from SS. From what Mnuchin is saying we should get both SS & stimulus money st the same time.
If they have your banking info, they’ve sent it electronically. The rest they will send a check to the address they have on tax return.
You don't have to file a return to get the money, but the IRS is distributing the money, and the IRS cannot access SS bank info.
So if you don't have IRS bank info on file, you don't get an automatic direct deposit from the IRS.
The social security info is getting shared with the IRS and those deposits will likely go out in the next two weeks. It will likely be faster if you go to the IRS site and enter it in but be sure you are on the legit IRS site. There are a lot of scammers out there.
