I logged on to this IRS portal this morning. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
After entering all my info it said you are eligible to receive the stimulus check, but we don't have your bank information! How is that possible when I get my social security via direct deposit to my bank account every month?
So I entered my bank information and then the portal said we will deposit the stimulus check to that account! (which is the same account as my SS deposit account).
Don’t be discouraged. My daughter received the same message, even though she received direct deposit refund in 2018 & 2019.
That is my understanding also. People who get SS but don’t have to pay taxes will get an extra deposit
I can’t believe how bad gov’t computer programmers are.
I speak that having developed expert software all throughout my working years to design and manufacture heavy machinery.
The wife and I filed and paid our taxes yesterday. Just to get it over with.
As for the economic payment? I aint holding my breath.
I hate this BS every year. If we’d go to a consumption tax paid ONCE at the cash register, I think I would throw a drunken party for a week.
The only ones who benefit under this income tax system is the elites.
Then I have to wait until 22nd of this month, because that is the day of direct SS deposit for me. I will hold off spending $1200 until then.
I have been preaching that for FIVE DECADES. Just start a transaction tax and eliminate all other taxes, especially long term capital gains tax which requires lots of retention of past records and is basically a tax on inflation.

They already know all your info, in many different agencies and in many different forms. Their outdated computer systems are capable of managing it.
If it comes with the regular payment mine won’t come until May. My understanding is the first wave of payment went out last evening. (It took down my banks internet service until this morning). It appears from those reporting they received theirs, that the top part of alphabet was the first wave. The second part should finish up the IRS payments. Then SS comes next. Iirc he said the direct deposits would be out by end of month. Then the mail outs. In my mind I see all the IRS ( people with large incomes - people who paid taxes) being checked off the SS rolls Then the numbers left on the SS list is smaller. No duplicates etc. BTW a guy in Indiana got $8.2 million deposited yesterday. Unfortunately it was corrected before he could withdraw it ;-).

The treasury is using only bank accounts on file as where you have had tax refunds automatically deposited. Those are the only personal bank accounts they are identifying. They did not go over to SS and get personal bank accounts for the SS payments. They should have cross checked the two sets of bank account numbers, at IRS and at SS, by SS number, collecting all referenced on either one of the data sets. I have the same issue, but did not wait out the IRS website delay, to check on what they had for me.
I always direct deposit my tax returns, federal and state. My government "cheese and crackers" check showed in my account this morning.
You and I and the others who support that know GD well why they will never do it.
It takes away a good bunch of the power from the Feds.
They could care less if the illegals come into this country and leech off the rest of us without paying any taxes other than some state sales taxes.

I check and it immediately goes to “Payment Status Not Available.” No delay. No pause while they’re looking it up.
I have a feeling they hired the same retards who made the Obamacare website to handle this one.
Yes but if the IRS doesn’t have your bank information then you will get a snail mail.
I’m getting the same message. Tried 4 or 5 times and finally got a msg. saying I’ve tried too many times in one day and come back in 24 hours.

You mean the government wanted to make sure it had the correct bank information before sending you free money?

Yeah I am dreaming of a $82 million in my bank account. Might be my only chance to be called a mega-millionaire even if just for a day or 2.
And yes if you already got your April SS deposit earlier than today, you might be waiting until next month. Hold off spending that $1200 LOL.
