Hank Steinbrenner, at one-time in line to succeed his father George and run the Yankees, died at home in Clearwater, Florida after a long battle with an illness, sources told The Post.
Steinbrenner, who turned 63 on April 2, was surrounded by his family. The illness was not related to COVID-19, the sources said.
Hank was the oldest son of George Steinbrenner and has one brother, Hal, and two sisters, Jessica and Jennifer.

No mention of his ship building on the Great Lakes?
That would have been his father, George Steinbrenner who ran American Shipbuilding Co. in Lorain, Ohio. My Dad worked there as an engineer and we attended a ship launching on the Cuyahoga River in the spring of 1966.

I’ve been watching Seinfeld reruns lately [B/C I can’t stand the news channels]
They are as funny as they were the day they were produced. Timeless. I agree, the Steinbrenner voice is wonderful.

John Heyman from MLB network tweeted that Hank had had a liver issue.

An illness that cannot be named? Must be AIDS.
There's no stigma associated with AIDS in 2020. And people aren't dying to it anymore - certainly not wealthy people who can afford treatment.

As a Sox fan, I have to put my hatred for the Yankees and say prayers to the Steinbrenner family. Tampa Bay has a lot of things named for the Steinbrenners - including Steinbrenner High School.

And gramps remarked about the kids dying these days (to him someone 63 is just a kid).

As much as I despise Larry David the human being, I gotta give props to him voicing Steinbrenner.

More likely liver disease. That's taken by many people as a way of saying alcoholism. Drug overdose is also something that wouldn't get mentioned. And the way things are, lung cancer, emphysema, and type 2 diabetes will soon be diseases that cannot be named.
Plus, is it really anybody's business what somebody dies of? The guy could have died of pneumonia, but do we really need to know that? When you die, if the cause of death isn't listed in the death notice, should we assume AIDS got you?
