yngus Day is a Polish-American holiday celebrated after Easter Sunday in Buffalo, New York and elsewhere. To mark the end of Lent, the joyful celebration consists of delicious food, entertaining parades, and wonderful music. This year, due to the pandemic, organizers behind the city's Dyngus Day celebrations had to come up with creative ideas to keep the festivities alive.
In 966 A.C.E., on Easter Monday, Prince Mieszko I of Poland was baptized. Mieszko converted to Christianity because of the marriage agreement he made with his wife, Princess Dobrawa of Bohemia. By accepting Christianity as his religion, the first king of Poland was also baptizing the whole Polish nation, according to Polish News.

Na zdrowie! to you too!
I married into a “ski” last name - love the traditions AND the food!
The ethnic groups around the world make it so beautiful, and also gives you an idea of how terrible it would be to have only “ONE” world.
Also, Polish girls rank up there with Swedish and Russian girls, as far as I am concerned...
I did not know that. When I read the headline, I assumed it was like Dufus Day, only dyngier. XD
Dyngus day is serious stuff in theses parts. Like Mardi Gras, except on the back end of Lent.
What you are supposed to do (and, I am not making this up), the girls are to squirt the guys they like with a squirt gun. The guys are supposed to smack the girls with pussy willows. (although, I have heard that it can be interchanged). Silly spring stuff. And beer.
Everybody is Polish on Dyngus
Day!
See you at the Millenium next year

As I said, never heard of it, but the headline struck me as funny. I have nothing against the actual celebration.
I bought some fresh polish sausage this weekend, and didn’t even know it was Dyngus day.
Oh, don’t worry. The name IS funny. No offence is taken.
Thought it might have been Jewish but they already have a day for that.

When exactly was 966 A.C.E., and what do the letters stand for?
I grew up with A.D. and B.C., could figure out C.E. and B.C.E. (not super happy but I have a lot of well-respected Jewish friends). But A.C.E. is a new one.
Same big celebration with sausage and beer and sauerkraut and potatoes in South Bend/Mishawaka, Indiana area. Big Polish population there.
I want to smack girls with pussy willows. They should have a dingbat day..
In 966 A.C.E, the squirt gun was invented. Not many people know that. ;)
ACE and BCE are political correctness to avoid scary Latin references to God: After and Before Common Era.
and festivus for the rest of us
