What did he do besides “American Pie?”
“Vincent”
Vincent. ;-)
Starry Starry Night.
Vincent.
Has he not heard of satellite radio?
Which no one could figure out the meaning of.
A lot, you are just not aware of it. An album called “Homeless Brother” was fabulous. He never made it big again as with “American Pie,” but he was and remains very talented.
Wonderful baby, Castles in the air, “The Legend of Andrew McCrew” are all fabulous. If you have never heard “wonderful baby” you are missing a beautiful song. Done with the cooperation of Fred Astaire. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJJYVJ-Ae6M
You made his point. Good lyrics are hard to come by, and matching them to good music is even harder. I agree with this guy. Today's music is mostly junk in my opinion. It's hollow...Not memorable etc...It's why the groups like the Beatles and Stones are/were so great. Hit after hit after hit. That's not happening today. Not even close.
That was enough for a lifetime but he has other good songs..
That song, however, is phenomenal and he covers 100 different topics in it.
Sheer genius.
Vincent. And it was great.
He did the long version..
“Waters of Babylon”
I was fortunate enough to be at one of his concerts when he did this—small venue at my college auditorium, couldn’t have been more than 100-150 people.
When he had the audience sing this it was quite musical. And very sad. In fact, this could have been recorded at that concert.

A very deep passage of Scripture.
I love “Empty Chairs”.
Castles In The Air, And I Love You So, If We Try
He’s right as far as I’m concerned - most of the crap today can’t hold a candle to earlier music...these days we have the echo/vibrate/syncopated masks for substandard voices and tunes that just don’t connect.
