Its literally like living in a foreign culture. Everyone running around so full of fear, I dont know how to act around them.
“Its literally like living in a foreign culture. Everyone running around so full of fear, I dont know how to act around them.”
That’s for sure. There’s suspicion in everybody’s eyes. No conversations, and especially no kidding around.
In Walmart yesterday I watched people in checkout slowly turning their heads to see if anyone was encroaching into their space, then there were glares. The ones wearing masks were constantly touching them which is supposed to be a no-no.
That’s exactly what it’s like - a foreign culture. I feel like I’ve been dropped into some other place and like you, I don’t know how to act around the inhabitants. You see them shrink in fear if you smile or say hello to them. I’ve been wearing a mask at the supermarket not because I think it does any good, but because people look at you like they’re going to beat you up if you don’t have one on.
I never thought Americans could behave like this.
Except the truly at risk, thy are like those good, obedient citizens who turned up the church instruments so they wouldnt hear trains full of their neighbors and community members headed to ovens.
How do I act.. same as always, humming an Easter tune and enjoying every moment I am blessed to be alive. In other words, the same as I did months ago.
“Its literally like living in a foreign culture. Everyone running around so full of fear, I dont know how to act around them.”
Yes, that’s exactly how I feel going to the store these days.
I point and laugh.
