Any kind of quantities that mean anything would be automated / done by industrial robots, anyway. Even much of China’s output is (although I realize that doesn’t fit the stereotype.)
There are plenty of forces of darkness always present. They run almost every country right now. Trump has surrounded himself with religious leaders to protect himself, but he has gotten swayed away from righteousness. A perfect opportunity presents itself for the world to get off the debt based dollar that Tricy Dick gave us. Why is he not taking it ?
Oh, and some of those bible stories have to be poorly translated generalities. My take on the desert wandering was to find the fake and phonies. A test if you will. Perhaps it would be better to use Alexander’s wandering though the Afghanistan region lol.
Right, that’s partially why I used the term “bad flu year” as even here in the semi-rural mid-South, at the peaks in those years it is not uncommon for some schools to close for a bit, there’s a renewed push for people to get vaccinated, and so on. A model that assumed “no reaction” as fatalities climbed rapidly would not be much of a model.
A three day daily thread... Proof the lockdown has gone on too long...
The IHME model is now showing no significant bump in May, and has the west coast already at peak, where as previously they were shown reaching peak in early to mid May. New cases are already trending down in CA and WA. Only Oregon, with almost insignificant infection numbers, and Arizona, peak in May. Not sure why, but AZ is projected to be worse than CA. Maybe due to “Snow Birds” and retirees.
Obviously, the IHME model has lost much credibility over the past month, but it appears some states have gone beyond flattening the curve, and bent it downward.
I guess we will soon see what happens when some areas start incrementally opening things up in May and June. If we have effective drugs in the fight, a 2nd wave should be manageable.
She certainly knows where the fashion trends were going. Think a line integrating ppe might be nice. PPE is never fashionable. Lol.
“’So far, no transmission of the virus in supermarkets, restaurants or hairdressers has been proved.’”

Give the Nazi’s an inch and they take a mile.
Actually, a lot of the clothing is still piecework, even in China.
The cutting is done by bot, sure.
Any factories that are brought stateside are a win. Even if they’re fully automated. Someone has to maintain the automation.
Prove you caught that cold at the grocery store.
You can’t.
community transmission means exactly that. Transmission in the community. Grocery stores, restaurants and hairdressers are part of the community.
He’s parsing. In a clintonistic sort of way.
Why do we need a daily thread?
‘We’ have only been on lockdown 9 days now.
Re: 890 -Agreed, Streeck has a heavy lift. Am looking forward to his research being presented later this week to see specifically what he observed.
From now on, we need to listen to Singapore and SK.
They seem to be the only ones with a clue.
Maybe. For now, carriers are a prime to way to project force in a targeted manner.
Soon to be renamed Karen “Camps” Acton, I guess.
Well he needs to explain the DP and all the other cruise ships and the at least two aircraft carriers out of action.
Submarine launched drones. That can launch hundrds of drones underwater and recover just under water. They can enter battle space undetected. CV’s on the other hand announce their movements on their web pages. They thought they were the titanic lol.
This (article from 2019 about a 2018 development) is pretty cool:

The automation is pretty generally available now, but, the reduction in labor costs proportionately helps our industry more. So, yes it is a win as long as gainful employment for all can be found - which Trump was doing a great job of until COVID-19 came along.
