To one of the COVID-19 studies posted?
I apologize if I was not clear. Ioannidis published the article as a clarion call to be on guard (in part) for studies that originate from a bias. He aptly notes, generally:
"Moreover, for many current scientific fields, claimed research findings may often be simply accurate measures of the prevailing bias."
and specifically:
"Research is not most appropriately represented and summarized by p-values, but, unfortunately, there is a widespread notion that medical research articles should be interpreted based only on p-values."
I posted the link as a reminder that all research needs to be viewed with a critical, thoughtful eye. That does not mean the study is not useful or valid.
I DO recall....from early CV threads....seeing posts about how current CV pts in China, who had had this SARs vaccine, didnt fair well.
I dont think I dreamed that :- /
********************************************************************************
I remember reading that also. In addition, it was all set to roll out in USA when it was determined that it actually made people who got SARS worse due to cytokine storm. So they didn’t use it here.
I didn’t save any of the links, but it was indeed posted.
I might have missed something. Your post seemed out of place.

Reposted and indeed Groundhog Day.
Thanks. I’ll be very interested to watch that later. Got to get some sleep now—finally winding down.
USA - PPE
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration just issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) to Advanced Sterilization Products to use a process that could decontaminate about 4 million N95 respirators (or similar respirators) per day to be reused in U.S. hospitals, the FDA announced tonight [Saturday night]. The company’s machines, called STERRAD Sterilization Cycles, use vaporized hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization; the low-temperature sterilization is used on heat-sensitive devices.
USA - VENTILATORS
New York hospitals have stopped sharing ventilators among multiple patients, an experimental practice that was being tried to solve the issue of not having enough ventilators, according to the New York Times. Doctors found that the patients didn’t respond well, the practice took too much staff time and that sharing the machines could have been dangerous, according to the Times.

TURKEY
Turkey gave a two hour notice to millions of residents in Ankara and Istanbul before imposing a two-day lockdown in those cities, according to the New York Times. Videos posted online showed that people rushed to shop for essentials, crowds formed and fights broke out, according to the Times. The number of COVID-19 cases increased by 4,747 in a day and 98 people died, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said. The country now has over 47,000 cases, over 1,000 deaths and over 2,400 recoveries, according to the Johns Hopkins dashboard.

MESSICO
Mexican factory making ventilators for the US is shut down by government after it refused to sell the machines to local hospitals
American-owned Smiths Medical plant in the northern border town of Baja, California, that was making ventilators, was shut down Friday
Gov. Jaimie Bonilla closed down the plant after the company refused to sell the machines to Mexican hospitals to treat coronavirus patients
Bonilla said the firm had continued to operate its local factory as an ‘essential service’, after non-essential plants were ordered closed to combat the pandemic
But Bonilla ordered the plant shuttered because he argued it was providing no such essential service to Mexicans
Thanks for the working link. The first one you had that took me back to the beginning of the thread - I thought you were making a joke about it being another ground hog day!
UK
Self-isolation and contactless deliveries are nothing new: Britons adopted similar measures to help prevent the spread of plague in York during the 17th century, stone inscription reveals
Plague struck the city of York in the year 1604, forcing measures in response
Afflicted city-folk left the city to isolate in wooden lodges on a moor to the south
A marker stone served as a ‘contactless’ drop-off point for food for the sick
Coins as payment were left in a bowl-like indent full of cleaning water or vinegar

PHILADELPHIA - (with video)
Police forcibly removed a passenger from a bus in Philadelphia on Friday for not wearing a face mask.
A transit official ordered other passengers off the vehicle for the same reason, as a new rules implemented to protect transportation workers and passengers were enforced.
Transit operators have the right to refuse to let passengers travel that are not wearing face masks, but after the incident that rule has now been revoked.
