Gross. Pulmonary fibrosis is no joke. I had an aunt who died from it.

Yes, but obtaining it the part of many of the earth’s inhabitants.

Now that would be interesting! Not too sure how well my English and Irish ancestors got along with Scots. Or for that matter, each other. Lol Maybe there was some fussing, perhaps even ongoing in heaven now!

It will cause more turmoil than the slowdown and restart.

Good. Republican brought this rush to globalism on. I hope they suffer most.

I can see a faction in China not wanting to give up anything to the US.

I can see that too, and there are the other unsavory cast of characters you always find where ever there is death, destruction, rape and pillage going on in the world.

Back in February when we really had no idea of the impact of this virus, I was searching for studies on survivors of SARS and posted about the long term impact to victims, particularly the most serious cases that progressed to ARDS but still survived. Many had significant lung damage including pulmonary fibrosis, as well as other organs being damaged. Symptoms were in line with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I suspect only the worst cases, the 5% that end up in ICU on vents, will have have such long term outcomes, but there might be less severe long term issues for milder cases that lower quality of life to some degree or present later in life.

U.S. nursing home deaths soar past 2,700 in alarming surge

The latest count of at least 2,755 deaths is up from about 450 deaths just 10 days ago.
By

BERNARD CONDON and RANDY HERSCHAFT,

AP
April 12, 2020 | 3:40 PM

NEW YORK (AP) — More than 2,700 deaths nationwide have been linked to coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, an alarming rise in just the past two weeks, according to the latest count by The Associated Press.

Because the federal government has not been releasing a count of its own, the AP has kept its own running tally based on media reports and state health departments. The latest count of at least 2,755 deaths is up from about 450 deaths just 10 days ago.

But the true toll among the 1 million mostly frail and elderly people who live in such facilities is likely much higher, experts say, because most state counts don’t include those who died without ever being tested for COVID-19

It’s looking like no down time until after the first. He’ll be home by next Sat, but quarantined in the barn office before he’s off again to the bay area (eek!). It’s crazy. Thanks so much for your prayers - they are truly appreciated :)

“After looking at today’s numbers on worldometers.info, we’re already we’re at +1,090. Today may see an uptick from yesterday.”

If I remember correctly a lot numbers were added on last Tuesday that were not reported over the weekend. Sunday is always low. You can see that on the daily death chart on worldmeters.

Every Tuesday is a big jump. We will be able to confirm the pattern this Tuesday.

There was a SARS vaccine.
https://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/infectious/sars-vaccine.htm

"Between 2002 and 2003, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) infected over 8,000 people worldwide, with almost 800 deaths. As a result of this severe and highly contagious virus, researchers almost immediately started working on developing a vaccine. United States-based researchers took a portion of the SARS DNA to create the vaccine. In particular, they took the DNA of a protein that is responsible for penetrating healthy cells in humans, which causes infection. The DNA in the vaccine cannot actually cause SARS because it only contains the protein responsible for the transmission of the virus. When injected with the SARS vaccine, the body identifies this protein and attacks it. As a result, the body develops immunity to the SARS virus. Due to exposure of the virus in vaccine form, the immune system can destroy the virus in the event of infection [source: BBC News].

In 2004, U.S. researchers successfully gave a SARS vaccine to mice in a trial. The researchers later exposed these mice to the actual SARS vaccine; they found that these mice had very few virus particles in their lungs compared to mice who never received the SARS vaccine. This type of vaccine is much safer than other vaccines that are commonly used, as it uses DNA, rather than killed forms of the actual virus, such as in the conventional flu vaccine.

In China, in 2004, researchers successfully vaccinated people with the SARS vaccine. They found that there were very few side effects associated with the SARS vaccine. Researchers claim that an effective and approved SARS vaccine takes three to five years to produce. There is hope, therefore, that if there is another SARS outbreak in the future, the world will be well-equipped with an effective vaccine [source: SciDevNet]."

Hmmm.

Doesn’t say how many people or where in China.

BTW, that vaccine was NOT approved here because of the side effects when challenged with another coronavirus.

Not sure it went further than experimental ‘victims’ in China either.

Sunday is always low.

That has been the pattern. I wonder what's causing it?

I just checked worldometers, we're @ +1,414 as of right now.

That's a bit below my daily fatality index prediction for today of +1,769 with about 1 hour to go before post time. Let's pray we've caught a break on this very special Sunday.
