Its just the flu, bro.

The numbers above have some grey area but essentially fewer people are dying now than in past years. A demographer might say there is a slight trend up or down in overall death rates due to an aging population. Regardless, overall death rates are way harder to fudge than cause of death numbers.
But Flubros and Bras dont need numbers to smell a rat. We have a manufactured crisis.
A silver lining? When this is done there will be an anti-modeler/anti-scientist movement in America. This may help the world clue in that if modelers are wrong about Corona then maybe they are also wrong about global warming.
That is perhaps the best thing I've read about this whole mess. If it helps demonstrate to the public that models are not reality then that is a big plus. I am involved in large scale modeling (in a very different industry). There are good, valid reasons for modelling and they can be tremendously useful - for certain use cases. They can also be misused and abused - and have no more connection to reality than CGI does supporting the latest Sci-Fi/Action-Adventure flick. I guess as a modeler I should be concerned about the public casting a critical eye towards us. But go ahead, we can take it. The real professionals know their craft. We're angry and embarrassed by the global warming BS. Some of you may have noticed that topic is one of my hot-buttons here on FR, that's why.
As a commodity trader, I appreciate models as well...but it is critical to know their weaknesses.
The other extreme is just as bad. Question: do we hunker down in our basements until eternity and until it is impossible for us to find jobs and we are all in bread lines spaced 6ft apart of course?
Corona will flare up again and again and again. Or worse, it may mutate. Will we all run back to our basements each time?
There has to be an end.
Or do we minimize the exposure to high risk individuals and get back to work knowing that we might get sick, oh my gosh, we might die.
If the .37% death rate is correct, it’s less dangerous than feared but also a lot more dangerous than normal flu. I’m in the fear camp but I think some areas should open non-essential retail, then some hotels.
Agreed. It’s significant, but it’s not the Andromeda Strain.
That’s an interesting idea. What we need is an anti-expert movement. These self-proclaimed experts, either academics or bureaucrats, have taken over and this must stop.
They never have any idea what they’re talking about because it never affects them personally - their salary comes in no matter what, and the government and its expert cadre always get fed first. Scraps are for the little person.
I need ideas on how to build a loudspeaker system that uses a prerecorded message similar to that used on neighborhood ice cream/snocone trucks.

You guys need to do some reading on the French Revolution, Maos Revolution, And The Communist Revolution.
They did not like experts either.
Wrong about salary not affected - they actually get paid more for more outlandish and false models.
I would like to see all these bureaucrats and congress critters take a 20% pay cut like has happened in many essential companies. They should feel the pain like theyre causing the rest of us.
I read yesterday that the often unidentified dead found on the streets or brought in from the streets are being buried in a mass grave in what is New York’s Potter’s Field. This has always been what they do with people who have no one to claim their bodies, and they have often held these bodies for a few days to see if anybody claims them and then they send them on to Harts Island. I think there’s also another Potter’s Field in some other borough, IIRC.
What I also read, in the very last line, is that they will all be listed as deaths from COVID, even though they have not been tested - and were found dead on the streets so therefore nobody knows what their “symptoms” were.
NYC has 7-8 million people, and several hundred die every day. Some of them on the streets, because they have let the “homeless” population get out of control, but this has always been true. I worked on the Bowery with a Catholic organization and it was pretty normal in the group we served for somebody to come to us in the morning and say “just wanted to tell you that Big Red (or whatever his street name was) died last night on such and such a street.” And he was dying either from alcohol poisoning or something brought on by it, or from drug use. Or sometimes he got hit by a car or simply had a heart attack.
We would go to see if we could help and find any family or connections - usually we couldn’t, but I remember we once found that one of the men had a huge bank account that could have kept most of us going in great style for a long time, but he was too dysfunctional to use it. Needless to say, in his case, a relative came forward...
What I also read, in the very last line, is that they will all be listed as deaths from COVID, even though they have not been tested...

Where did you read this?
Every COVID death stat = $$$$$$$$$$$ from Uncle Sugar.
New York State has a LONG history of stuff like this.
The death certificate of my snuff-chewing great uncle lists tobacco use as his cause of death. He was 94.
Americans ONLY want the healthcare that
Congress gets, not the vaccines with HIV
that they demand be injected into Americans.
With that reasoning, we don’t need any testing. If you have had a cold or flu with similar symptoms, you should be free to go back to your regular life.
You need to read more FR then. The tone is that of a mob.
People need to be more careful with their language. The language used on FR will motivate some fool to take a shot at someone. There are a lot of weak minds out there.
Down here in the Southwest you could call it the allergybro's.
I ignore experts - I do not want to murder them like the regimes that you mention.
