You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram. If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Funny, even more true in times of self isolation. About 3 min.

4 min. Got the contraction wrong, and had to double back.
Took all my time.

Or not...

It does work both ways.

When my wife retired I was doing full time long distance runs, which put me on no schedule and I definitely found she got underfoot and ‘in the way’ sitting around all day when I was used to having full ‘rule of the roost’ privileges....I had to start getting dressed just to go get a cup of coffee in my OWN kitchen because she was ‘glued’ to the idiot box....<: <: <:

AND entirely true.

We were basically ‘separated’, I had my ‘space’ and she had hers and then there was the ‘common area’.

More like roommates with absolutely NO PRIVILEGES.

I’m embarrassed. I had to use the clues to get this one today. Sometimes you get this brain warp where you can’t think. Took me forever, when it really should have been easy. Helps if you get the one letter word right.

Yes, those brain farts are easy to get.

It does tend to make it easier if single letters abound because usually ONLY one of two choices and then scan.

It is what makes HAL so ‘good’.

I more or less consider HAL ‘cheating’ but I have and will continue to use...

Of course I am one of those ‘obnoxious’ types that would sit at the bar on a Sunday AM and do the NY Times Sunday Xword in INK.....

Never could get into the ‘London’ versions because they did theirs in ENGLISH, not American.....<: <: <:

I was going to post some sort of snarky meme but I’ll just say I agree with you.

NWJVPEG was the first word I got. After that, it was pretty easy. But that took a while.
