When Democrats say theres no room for pro-life people in the Democrat party, they really mean it. And Democrats in the state of Tennessee literally just removed a 26-year state legislator from the August primary ballot because hes pro-life on abortion.
The Tennessee Democratic Party voted Wednesday to remove state Rep. John DeBerry from the August 6th primary ballot. berry represents District 90 and is from Memphis. But he can no longer represent the party before voters because he doesnt stand for the value of killing babies in abortions. And the vote wasnt even close as the radical abortion activists who run the Democrat Party voted 41-18 to kick him out.
As the Tennessean reports:
Tennessee Democratic Party chair Mary Mancini said it was standard procedure for the State Democratic Primary Board to vote on challenges to candidates appearing on the ballot.
After a long meeting in which we heard challenges and evidence, we did what we thought was best to protect the Tennessee Democratic Party and the values we stand for, Mancini said.
The former Democrat didnt mince words in a statement issued after the vote.
The Tennessee Democratic Party has decided that a 26-year Representative that spent 12 years as a committee chairman, conducted himself with integrity, served the party well, sponsored meaningful legislation and built bridges across the aisle to get bills passed is no longer a Democrat. And so, Im not, he said.
When it came to abortion, DeBerry had a very clear pro-life position and said people need to take more personal responsibility for their actions instead of getting elective abortions. And he voted for the heartbeat bill banning abortions on babies whose hearts have begun to beat.
This was the first chance in 25 years that I had to go on record and say I disagree with abortion, said DeBerry, D-Memphis.
But DeBerry, who said he has not received criticism from fellow Democrats about his vote, believes that women could be taking more initiative to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
I choose my battles, and I choose to give girls self esteem, self worth, to where they dont feel that their bodies are just a vessel for somebody to play with and they dont get themselves in that position, DeBerry said.
I think thats whats being lost. Personal responsibility, pride, self esteem it makes a person walk away from those situations that get them in this position. Because the woman ultimately has to bear the burden, he said. The man walks away. The woman has to deal with it for the next nine months.
DeBerry, an ordained Church of Christ minister, said he has stood against abortion consistently since the 1970s. His father, who also was a preacher, spoke out against it too, DeBerry said.
Deberry can continue speaking out against abortion, but he will have to do so without being a Democrat.
Baby-Killers only in the Demonrat Party
Remind me again what happens to the chaff.
Ummm... Say Reverend, didnt you notice that you were a member of a party that glorifies the slaughter of children, even after theyre born? Honestly, if youre a democrat, and especially if youre an elected democrat, youre complicit in everything on the agenda theyre trying to shove down the nations throat.
Legally, there’s no way this would survive a court challenge.
I thought political parties were pretty much allowed to make any rules they want for candidates in their primary?
The party of gloom, doom and death.
They’re devil worshippers.
don’t even think about letting him run as repub
Thanks you. I was thinking the same thing. 8>)
A democrat legislator while being a minister of God’s Word doesn’t mix. He’s got to serve somebody, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord.
yep-abortion is one of their sacraments-CINO (Catholic in Name Only) Biden is right there now
Memphis, too. Good God in heaven. Walk Out.
`
That's right!
Why is that?
So for almost FIFTY years he tolerated Democrats murdering innocent babies? He just held his nose, looked away, and pretended it didn't happen?
How in the world can he possibly have stayed in that evil political party for that long?
If he claims to be a Christian, why would he even go near the Democrat party in the first place? They are all about everything that is opposed to Christianity.
Shows a serious lack of discernment.
There is a constitutional right to run for office, but not to run for office as a Democrat.
Mr. DeBerry should file to run for reelection as an Independent. DJ, am I correct to assume that he represents a black-najority Memphis district in which the GOP would have no chance of winning even if it were a three-person race? If so, then the GOP should not run anyone in the district, which could allow DeBerry to win reelection with votes from Republicans, Independents, pro-life Democrats and (crucially) Democrats who are used to voting for DeBerry in every election for the past 26 years.
And if DeBerry wins, the GOP leadership should ask him to caucus with Republicans, even if he only agrees with us on a few issues. Having a veteran black Democratvlegislator become a Republican will help open the eyes of black voters beholden to a Democrat Party that treats them like children, and if tthe GOP can make any inroads with black voters it can run the Democrats completely out of business. And since the GOP will be redrawing that state house district anyhow, what does DeBerry have to lose?
I remember watching the democrat party convention back in the seventies after the Supreme Court made abortion legal. The democrats took a vote on abortion. The majority voted to support abortion and planned parenthood. I remember that governor Casey of Pennsylvania was interviewed but he was not allowed to address the people in the hall because he was pro life.
The republicans had their convention but they decided to vote prolife. It was a clear choice for me.
I wonder how many Catholics or other Christians who vote for Democrats actually know what they are voting for. Do they actually know that the democrats have actually taken a stand in favor of abortion? Are they confused by the “pro choice” double talk? You have heard democrat politicians say “I am personally pro-life but I support a woman’s right to choose.” The democrats have confused the discussion by making it seem that women are going to get abortions anyway and they might die from illegal abortions. They make people feel guilty as if they would be causing the woman to go to an illegal abortionist and be killed.
