I have some friends who are uhm...not Republicans and they are insisting The President declare some sort of national Emergency under some assumed imprimature, of which, I am unaware he is able to do under the Constitution.
Then, after two weeks, we can be done with it and go back to business.

Where I think Trump screwed up, is not having someone similar to Fauci fighting for the economy. Fauci is a doctor who loves the fact he owns the playing field right now and only sees how many people can he save. In reality, they should be looking at acceptable levels of risk in both the economy and life saving. Many here think the economy will bounce right back once Trump declares victory over this virus, and I hope they are right, I wanted to retire and get out of the mess that is California this year. But the economy was good because employment was high, wages were rising and people had money to spend. That isn’t going to exist when this is done, and you can’t just order that ripple to stop. And the longer this goes on, the bigger that ripple gets.
This is not condeming any position... but let this senior give her opinion without jumping on it.
the seasoned by life group are more apt to think all the uproar is ridiculous.. and the younger who have not seen war or really difficult times, would rather be careful and hold it like it is...
our country.. has never done this before.. we dont know the damage being done.. we wont know for a time.
just think.. we bombed 2 cities in Japan to save lives here in the US.. lives taken and lives saved.
what is the answer.. i dont like drs i see on tv in the task force, making decisions for the country.. i dont trust most of their opinions.. its too easy to have their own feelings and politics involved.
talked to my adult grandson and hes still going to work every day..draws plans..
i told him he wasnt supposed to be out.. he shrugged.. he will keep on working..

The President is following the Constitution. Can’t say the same for several democrat State and city politicians who are enjoying their newfound fascism.
Fauci seems to want this vacation to continue. he can think health..but he cant do the economy or jobs ... and he is a democrat..

Really? The Supreme Court must have then made a mistake when they ruled that pres Roosevelt had the power to forcibly instruct US Citizens of Japanese ancestry to sell their businesses, homes and report to internment centers.
In times of emergency the governments have almost unlimited authority to act notwithstanding what might otherwise be a violation of civil rights.
Health officers orders that people not leave their homes, as exists in most states right now, obviously violates the first amendment right to free association as well as the constitutional right to travel, among other rights.
The point being if the president determined a national stay home order it would be found to be completely constitutional, regardless of the FR band of constitutional law experts.

Because that’s when the last war interrupted the daily routine. I’ve lived through several myself. Honestly...if you were not paying attention you might not have noticed.
And Americans can’t live through three weeks of staying home and watching TV.

This could actually be leveling off. Look at the last three-four day trend. If tomorrow’s # is at or below Apr 4, the wave could be breaking.
