“So we disagree. You hold that, although based on real current “not-the-oh-so-January” data, to criticize the family-, economy- and country-damaging overreaction is warranted, and to dismiss the models that have been adjusted downward several times because reality has shown the impacts the models predicted to be grossly overstated is “stupid”.”

The disconnect with you between the success of the mitigation and the mitigation itself is stunning. When you change the parameters of the model, the output changes.

“Very well. So leave your fate to the modelers and the politicians and discount “stupid” data which show improving conditions that arguably do not provide continued justification for a growing number of people for the crushing costs (to be clear, these “costs” include significantly more than simply dollars) that continue to mount and the continuing abject fear and panic which is itself harming people and unnecessarily continues to grow, but realize that sooner or later you are going to have to gather the courage to go back outside and associate with other people. I presume that for you that will be when your governor provides his assurance — and his permission — for you to do so.”

The panic I see is from the FluBros who think they should be out saving the economy at all costs. Hint: the economy is stronger than you think and you are not going to “save” it by killing millions. Going out and about is just exposing yourself and others to more risk.

“We can disagree, my fellow Freeper, and as neither of us has any authority or ability to do much about any of this except attempt to clarify and perhaps influence a small audience with our thoughts and opinions, can we agree to do so without resorting to pejoratives as that is, well, so “Left”.”

If I see something that is stupid or foolish, I’m going to call it out, especially if it involves lives. Because, well, that is so “Right”. (Suggesting someone is “Left” is a pejorative around here, BTW.)

And trying to dismiss my argument in an appeal to authority (by saying neither of us has it) is a logical fallacy. Refute the argument, not the arguer.

Never heard of it RC. Research thoroughly, especially the dangers.

The supplements I take specifically to lower risks from the virus are zinc, occasional copper, D3, C, and I recently added quercetin, which we already had on hand.

Of course the best thing a person can do is lower their exposure to those who may have it, wear your PPE when you have to go out, and practice good hygiene.

Coronaboats update:

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) - Nearly 60 percent of 217 people - many from Australia, Europe and the United States - on board a cruise ship off the coast of Uruguay have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the ship’s operator said Tuesday.

Infected Ruby Princess passengers transmit virus to 19 people ashore
April 7, 2020 — 10.05pm
At least nineteen people across Australia have been infected with COVID-19 after coming into contact with passengers allowed to disembark from the Ruby Princess cruise ship in Sydney.

The ill-fated Ruby Princess cruise ship will stay in Australian waters despite the Border Force ordering all vessels to leave due to the coronavirus pandemic.

ABF Commissioner Michael Outram said all foreign cruise ships which asked for permission to stay in local waters had their requests knocked back on Saturday.

But the Ruby Princess in Sydney and Artania in Perth will be allowed to stay in the short-term as hundreds of crew members fight illness following a COVID-19 outbreak on board.

Cruise ships ordered out of Qld waters

Sonia Kohlbacher
There’ll be more COVID-19 testing in Qld, with 32 of the state’s cases having an unknown source.
All cruise ships anchored in Queensland waters will leave by Wednesday as the state continues to crack down on movements to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Nine cruise ships had been off the coast and the four that now remain have been ordered to leave Queensland waters by one minute before midnight on Wednesday.

The total number of diagnoses in Queensland has reached 934 with an additional 13 cases overnight.

Of the current cases, 42 people had been hospitalised and 11 are in intensive care on ventilation.

Cruise ship industry is never going to be the same. With the stickiness of the Coronavirus, I don’t know who would want to chance going on a cruise ship until there is herd immunity or a vaccine.

Louisiana Department of Health Updates for 4/6/2020

April 06, 2020

The Louisiana Department of Health has updated its website to reflect the latest number of COVID-19 positives and will continue to update its website at noon each day.

As of noon on April 6, the Department reported 1,857 additional cases since yesterday, bringing the total to 14,867 positive cases.

Hospitalization
A total of 1,809 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized; of those, 563 patients require ventilation. Information on available hospital beds, ICU beds, and hospital vents is on the LDH dashboard.

Deaths
The Department reports an additional 35 deaths since yesterday, bringing the total to 512 deaths. Deaths are listed on the LDH dashboard by parish under the by parish tab and information by age can be found on the by age tab. Today, additional information was added to the LDH website to share a breakdown of deaths by race and underlying conditions by percentage.

Long-term care facilities
COVID-19 cases have been reported by 70 nursing homes in Louisiana. For context, there are a total of 436 nursing homes and adult residential care facilities in Louisiana. Within nursing homes, 363 patients have been reported to have COVID-19; among nursing home residents 103 deaths have been reported. These facilities care for thousands of Louisianans, including older people and those with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk for complications and death from COVID-19.

In many cases, a nursing home resident is tested and diagnosed with COVID-19 by a provider outside of the long-term care facility. The facilities have begun self-reporting positive cases to the Department of Health. Due to the volume, the Department is no longer listing individual facilities. The Department continues to work with facilities to minimize the spread of the illness and protect residents and staff. Facilities have been given guidance to minimize the spread of illness.

The Department will update the number of nursing homes with COVID-19 cases, the number of nursing home residents who are confirmed to have COVID-19 and the number of deaths among these residents on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Correct, not the same technology, but pretty much the same conspiracy word for word. Just saying.

Au contraire.

246 of the Travis Co., TX (Austin) 502 cases are in the 20-39 age group.

“LOL!I figured you would be able to do the math. It’s pretty obvious what age cohort the 30% of the remaining deaths were from. To me at least. It’s pretty significant that 63% of all COVID-19 mortalities in New York are age 70 and above.”

The distribution for the flu is similar. The point in my post you ignored and are now trying to deflect from..

“Sure I may post without sources, if I am offering a viewpoint. But if I am posting something and representing it as fact, I never knowingly post without a reference. If I do, I would hope I would get called out. Just like I call people out who do so. Deal with it.”

You have been called out numerous times and ignored it. You also have a tendency to conflate other people’s arguments when you cannot refute them.

“’You’re a FLuBro.’

Once you started tossing around the FluBro tag, you had already given up trying to discuss / argue your position in good faith. To each his own.”

Is a word hurting you? What would you like to be called, something that won’t hurt your feelings? I am not going to call you guys “people with a casual disregard for the lives of others when it interferes with them counting their nickels who claim that CCP-19 is no more, or even less, dangerous than the flu in spite of all the evidence to the contrary and who go around saying ‘It’s just the flu, Bro!”. I’ll just shorten all that to “FluBro”. Deal with it. Maybe you shouldn’t have been a FluBro if you don’t like being called one. You don’t get to play the equivalent of the race card: “WHAT did you call me? Did you just call me a ‘FluBro’? How DARE you! That thereby invalidates all your arguments! You are CANCELLED!”

Too many WHO are believers in the 95% population elimination. They had hoped Ebola would do it (Pianka, UT prof) so now they’re hanging their hats on CV.
